That's unfortunate. Can't say I have writer's block often. There are times when I procastinate, or when writing can't take a high priority. But once I'm at the keyboard, I can usually spit out something.

Did you try just putting your fingers on the keyboard and noodling around until you felt inspired?

Best!

hehe...I myself was suffering from a writer's block, and amazingly, as someone above also pointed out, I wrote about my writer's block and it started the things going and got me back to writing again.
Here's what I had written, if anyone's interested.

seriously now. for me the best cure is to just sit at a coffee joint all day with my notebook just watching people go by.

there's no panacea, but other antidotes include:

- reading the dictionary (then picking out two random words from random pages a la almanac and try to link them to what i'm supposed to be writing).

- pretend i'm someone else. comes quite easily for me.

- chatting with interesting people. like myself. (kidding. the real point here is to make a joke out of everything)

- sketch, instead of write. doesn't matter if it turns out like crap and wins a place in MoMA, just doodling helps to flex the mind a bit.

- media poisoning, turn on the radio, dvd, and flip a random book i bought from that shady thrift store or sordid flea market.

- do some MENSA puzzles. when you realise the futility of it you'll be more comfortable with the futility of writing.

- music. anything except that death metal crap.

- pray.

- get off the internet. like now.

I usually don't have writers block and designers block at the same time. So which ever direction my heart and mind are flowing I go that way. If I happen to have writers block, I'll just go design something instead. If I happen to have designers block, I'll just go write something. I find myself easily inspired these days. I can look at a used cigarette butt next to gutter, and be inspired by it.

This might sound ridiculous, but the cure for writer's block sometimes is simply to write -- write all the crap you don't think is any good, and all the reasons why you have nothing to say, and at some point, you will write something that interests you. And if you don't want to free write a bunch o'crap, you can also look around for a writing exercise (there are lots of places on the web to find these) and make yourself do it. The act of writing even something you think is worthless will eventually lead you to write something worthwhile. Lots of writers have days when they write only one sentence of any value, but the reason they're writers is because they keep going -- after they've taken a walk and recharged their batteries, as John so wisely suggests.

The best way to prevent writers block is to have enough material in reserve to write about. While I don't blog that much, I do write in other formats and I generally keep a small notebook, I think it's 4x8 or so and write down all the thoughts that I have. I also sketch designs in them and such as well. It seems to work pretty well so if I'm ever in need of material I just flip through the pages and find whatever I can write about.

Well, there's a solution to getting rid of that writer's block

1. Read other blogs for inspiration.

2. Go out, have hot tea, forget all about blogging

3. Have a good sleep and rest

4. Take a whole hiatus from your blog to recharge your batteries.

If all that doesn't work, I guess you can request for official help :)

I'm with ya, writer's block is so annoying. I have in recent weeks though had moments of sheer genius, where my mind wouldn't shut up and I was just writing pages of material at night; it was bizarre.

I think that the reason it happened was because of a small change in my diet. I tend to drink a lot of tea, but when I'm ill I switch to Camomile or Rosehip (mainly to avoid the caffeine) and I did this until I got well. When I went back to normal tea, my mind became pretty fired up. I was on smoking form...

But unfortunately I've been a bit dead of recent. Hopefully it will return soon.

I haven't posted on my blog in 3 days because I can't find anything to write about.

I finally got "cured" last night while screaming at CNN @ McDonald's last night.

People aren't commenting on this because they don't want to be associated with someone who has that particular disease.
So, what you should do is go read a book or walk in the countryside.
Find something as stress-free as possible and keep at it until you're bored out of your skull.
Next time you sit down to write you'll be a different person . . .
