via Kottke, from an article about blogging in Saudi Arabia:
Blogging is so novel here that the equivalent term in Arabic, tadween, to chronicle, was coined only this year. But it has spread rapidly among the increasingly urban youth and in the process has loosened the limits of what's open for discussion.
I only joke because I <3.

Well Justin, as an American, I can only speak as one....but I really only agree with freedom of speak to a certain extent. I dont think our forefathers who wrote The Constitution had any clue what would be in the future...."how to make a bomb" and "how to defraud the goverment" probably wasnt what they had in mind....

They may not have had those specific examples in mind but I do think there were cultural equivalents.

I would agree with frotzed, there were equivilants, and I would suggest that how to make bombs and how to defraud the government are exactly what the forefathers had in mind when they said we need the freedom to speak.
As far as what Justin posted here, I think it's fantastic that Saudi Arabian tadweeners are able to openly express themselves. I believe that the freedom to communicate in the online space will be a key to International peace.
