Living in Tampa is an odd experience when it comes to things online. Craigslist seems to be used by almost everyone I am close to online, yet in Tampa I never hear of anyone refer to it although we have our own section. Obviously people in Tampa use it because plenty of posts are made daily, but I'm wondering if there is a Craiglist section of town that I have yet to venture to.
Anyways do you use Craigslist and have you found it useful?

I've used the Richmond version to get rid of old computers and parts and will keep an eye on it for any deals. AKA people selling "broken" computers that most likely just need the OS reinstalled.

I bought my car off it, some speakers for the home theatre. It can be great, but it's probably best if you just browse not looking for something specific.
Also sold a piano and big screen HD using it when I lived in fort lauderdale.

Craigslist is awesome. I can say it's pretty consistent with the friends I have online AND offline that are also Los Angeles residents - absolutely everyone here uses it. It's especially useful for housing.
I have found via losangeles.craigslist.org:
4 roommates
Coffee table
Couch
Chaise Lounge
Club Chair
Dining Table
Pink Floyd tickets
Wicked tickets
I've also gotten rid of:
Free desktop PC if you pick it up
Cheap futon
GnR tickets
Lift ticket coupons for cash
My roommate has a regular cat-sitting gig through it as well.

I've never found anything useful for me, but I have a friend who uses it all the time to get stuff for her kid.
Mostly I read the rants and raves and the "greatest hits" for a laugh.

I don't use it all the time, but when I'm looking for something I always check Craigslist if I don't mind the item being used.

I kind of owe my current life to Craigs List.
It's where I found my job, my apartment and my last 4 roommates, most of whom are still good friends.
I've found freelance gigs there and I've used it to offload things I no longer need. There's always the occasional weirdo, but for the most part, I'm very pro-Craig's List.

I've never had a bad experience buying or selling things on Craigslist. I've bought and sold a car, a bed, a fishtank, a bookshelf, a bike etc. It's where I turn if I want to get rid of something or buy something used.
Never had much success looking for jobs or apartments on there though. The job listings for web stuff seem to be people looking for to get free websites in exchange for "experience". And there are better websites more specifically geared to apartment hunting (at least in Toronto).

I bought an amp of a guy in Nashville, who turned out to be in a band who's album I owned, but I'm not usually in a city with a craigslist section so I don't use it nearly as much as ebay

No I don't. In fact, until today I'm still unclear what it does and what I can use it for.
What is it for again?

Honestly, I've been there only a couple of times, never used it once. I might know a couple of people, maybe, who use it occasionally.

@kami
it's online classifieds... and there is no discernible design process :)

Hell yeah. We've scored several great deals in the area, but nothing beats our Wii package for just 200 bucks.

Via Craigslist I've found/purchased:
2 apartments in Washington, DC
Concert Tickets
I've sold:
Concert tickets
I've given away:
Lots of furniture
But now that I'm in Palo Alto I don't use it as much to find/sell things. Partly this is because the location restrictions just aren't as effective - the entire Peninsula is a much larger area than all of DC. And partly because I am not on the prowl for a free book shelf.
What do I use it for? Entertainment in the form of the 'Best of' section: Best of Craigslist

CL rules. Where else can you find a job, buy used music gear, and hire a hitman?
Hours of entertainment, and essential if you live in the Bay. I've found all of my apartments/houses with it, a lot of jobs, and tons of laughs.

It's not the most usable app I've encountered. Tried recently to search jobs there.

I have had some good success finding apartments with Craigslist, and also getting/unloading some Cubs tickets.
I would however never use it to find any sort of freelance work. I actually have written an article about why...

I own and operate my Orlando web design company: designzillas, and owe a lot of my leads to craigslist. I generally get 1-5 requests a week from craigslist alone - just by posting in my area. You don't need to over-post or even post in alternate locations - just a good title, and a solid graphic that represents your services: example of mine. I've actually had some calls from people in Tampa (which is where I am actually from) so I would recommend posting your services on there, plus it's free ;)
