There was an old Revision 3 podcast called InDigital that was quite a nice relaxed tech podcast but it died and got replaced by TekZilla. Patrick Norton is supposed to be a big name and there was a bit of fuss when he moved to Revision 3. But, from what I've watched so far, I find him irritating. Dressing like a teenager and waving his hands around is quite off-putting. Mind you, the program itself isn't that good so it's not that much of a loss. The relatively unknown presenter from InDigital, Hahn Choi was far less irritating.

I used to enjoy him on TechTV and he's a laid back guy in person. I didn't particularly care for the show he had with ZDnet, but you piqued my curiosity. Going to check out the show now.

He should be on HSN.

I sometimes preferred him over Leo on TechTV back when it was around.

I try not to judge actors/celebs or anyone that gets large media attention and the way they appear or the things they say on camera though. My reasoning behind this is that the individual probably doesn't have control over their appearance or speech. Scripts are written and costumes or outfits (whatever you'd like to call them) are prepared to give a certain slant to things.

Looking at our personal lives, let's use facebook as an example for exposure. If you look at many people's profiles you find them stuffed full of photos of the individual drunk, doing embarrassing things and leaving awkward and regrettable messages to their friends that are often public. Crazy, isn't it? And we have control over that content; imagine what it would be like if you couldn't untag yourself, remove content or deny any of that information from becoming (semi) public.

I kind of strayed from the topic a bit here, but I think it's important to take a step back and consider that the whole podcast thing is probably just a job. Not everyone gets to do something they enjoy to make money.

No, Patrick Norton does not irritate me. In fact, I think he's one of the best hosts on the Revision3 Network. He's well informed and can explain things easily. I especially like the "teenage" side of him, smashing computers and being a rebel, because, well, I guess I fit that demographic.

Regarding Indigital, I did love that show, but I'm finding Tekzilla more enjoyable. While Hahn was an excellent host, I always felt Will Wheaton drug the show down. He was way too hyper and single minded for a gadget show. Not to mention Indigital could never get a regular schedule nailed down and often had horrible produced episodes (really bad sound). In comparison with Indigital, Tekzilla is produced a million times better.

I agree with cavemonkey50. Patrick, IMO is a great host. I have been watching him since ZDtv, the precursor to TechTV. He is knowledgable about his craft. The show is well produced and comes out on schedule, unlike InDigital.
