Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed a large number of threads from months long past making their way back up from the proverbial grave, at least since Ali2 was introduced? Not saying that's a bad thing or anything, but I get a little jarred when I look at a thread and notice that everyone except the last commenter spoke their peace months ago (and i'm not talking about June here, I'm talking about February).
Again, is it just me?

It's due to the new "Recommended Notes" and "Most Popular" and ... I think there's several places where notes get highlighted now.
Plus the search features works a lot better.

I've noticed it too. It's all the old notes being recommended. I think popular notes is good in principle but it doesn't give enough focus to the newer notes.
Maybe it would be better if popular notes limited things to the last 3 months or so?

I don't see anything wrong with old notes getting resurrected if it means fewer duplicates, ie "What CMS do you use?" and "What's your favorite font?"

I can't say that the search function works all that well still. I was searching for something else, and didn't find it despite the fact that I KNOW that certain keywords were attached to the note, but I found something else interesting that was over a year old. Which is how these things happen.
But it all goes in cycles. For the past week or so, there hasn't been much at the top of the Notes page that I was interested enough in to reply to, though next week could be different. I look in on the old Notes that pop up that I recognize, just to see who brought it back up, and what they said.

Yeah I've resurrected a few super old notes. This isn't from the recommended section though, I actually browse to old notes to see if I have anything new to add. Aside from that, there have been tons of new users here that maybe might be able to chime in on some stuff. I just like mixing things up.

I've noticed it as well, but I'm fine with it. As long as the conversation keeps going, it's cool by me.

I'v enjoyed it because the conversations never seem to be time-dependent. It's not like people are resurrecting "What happened on October 19, 2007 and you only have today to answer" type threads. Although that would be cool as well.

Hmmm...
I guess what gets me is that when I look at a note, then I look at the date it was posted (let's again say February) I start wondering whether my comment is really going to make any sort of difference or impact. Maybe it's just because I always look to respond to the thread starter more than the commenters.

It's a little disconcerting and I suspect people coming here for the first time looking at the notes and seeing the most highlighted notes are from a long time ago with one comment from the last week might get the impression there isn't mush going on.

Some things weren't meant to die too early. Besides, like a lot of people here, I think that bringing back some of the older notes just showcases some of the brilliant things some people have quipped.

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed this...
It was/is puzzling to me but not in a bad way.

I think the reason for my discomfort with 'thread necromancy' is that most of the good replies happen within a 15 day period of the creation of the note. It's good to browse old notes, but often the reason it's bumped to the top of the notes pile is a one sentence reply that does not contribute anything of worth to the discussion. And so the discussion does not continue, and the old note gradually disappears into obscurity.
In the meantime newer notes are made harder to find.
I think I can get used to it, though. I've already discovered 5 gems now. Lovely, lovely stuff. Just, is it possible to make what is new and what is old clearer? Maybe a different colour for new notes topics or something?

I'm kinda glad they're out there. Its funny I'd find an old note and want to respond.. then scroll down realizing I did a few months ago.
But having 'favorite instant messenger' come up in search results is great because it helped me download a new Windows client today.
