Hi,
I've selected to prepare a case study on 9rules for an assignment for NET24 unit at Curtin University.
My case study is available at: http://is.waznelle.com/2008/04/21/9rules-case-study/
I know I could have gone into more detail but have a word limit.
Also, I am missing a couple of stats and numbers for members and submission rounds.
Would love your feedback.
Cheers,
Elle

Not that this is really all that helpful feedback for you, but have you considered expanding on the 9rules Wikipedia entry?

Might I add I hope our new launch next week doesn't effect your case study considering there will be big changes from how the site works and looks.

Could I ask your assistance with some stats and numbers:
Started: Apr 2005 with 16 blogs
Round 1: Apr 2005, 127 applicants, total members: 31 blogs
Round 2: Jul 2005, 359 applicants, total members: 46 blogs
Round 3: Nov 2005, 509 applicants, total members: [please fill in]
Round 4: May 2006, 700 applicants, 111 new members
Round 5: Oct 2006, 1190 applicants, 134 new members
Round 6: April 2007, Ongoing applications, [please fill in]
Are these numbers correct?
And how many members are currently in the community? and entries members?
Cheers,
Elle
ps. I could have written more, but unfortunately have a word limit to my assignment.

Elle: Your case study came up in Technorati just before I was leaving out last night. I read it this morning...nicely done. :)
I'll see what I can do to dig up those numbers for you.

Fantastic job Elle, I read it last night and was absolutely stunned.
What's really interesting is since you haven't posted to 9rules before this note, I'm assuming you were new (or kinda new) to 9rules when you started compiling all this information, and for someone not intimately involved in 9rules you certainly hit a lot of points and made some great observations. I run 9rules and I don't think I could have done a better job.

I honestly have no clue about Round 3 and I don't know if I would call Round 6 the ongoing round since the real Round 6 is May 7th this year. Everything else seems pretty spot on though. But maybe we can move it to Round 7.
Currently it looks like we have 110 members and as for entries/member this won't be totally accurate since we have yet to clear out the content from members that are no longer with us, but including that it looks to be around 300 entries/member.

Elle:
Since the division hasn't taken place yet, there are ~19,600 members using the social aspects of 9rules. There are ~113 9rules members (I'm spotting some discrepancies so I'm working through them before launch). Every month I go through sites to make sure quality standards are upheld and remove sites when necessary.
Regarding Round 3, that was the round I was accepted in. I cannot find any data on that.
There wasn't a Round 6 since we had open submissions but I've received thousands of submissions. It should be noted that just because a site submitted does not mean it was eligible to be a 9rules member (for example, we do not accept Blogger sites). I did not keep track of the exact number of additions - most definitely less than 50.
There is also the issue of accepting a site and relatively soon after acceptance I end up removing them (which is why I wrote this entry). Of the numbers actually accepted, at least 10-15 don't actually make it in.
If you need anything else let me know. :)
