"Boy Meets World". I know it's in syndication on the Disney Channel, but it's not the same. Every week I got wrapped up in the Corey-Topanga drama and then when they went to college, it just wasn't the same.

Firefly, Futurama and Farscape.
They keep taking good shows off the air!!

Babylon 5
Buffy
Firefly
Futurama (it's coming back though, maybe?)
Veronica Mars
Firefly is the only real one there that got shut down way too early. The others had a fair run. And they tried to revive B5 and that blew BIG balls.

Absofrackinglutely!!
Though I didn't mind Babylon 5 ending after 5 seasons. It's just that I would have loved them to show the Psi-Wars and the Drakh Invasion.

Farscape. That was my favorite show ever, and then the axe came.
Battlestar Galactica, while not gone yet, has 1 season left, then they're axeing it.

Oh no more "Arrested Development"? Wow, I never watched that show but heard about through the tv commerical ads.

I don't watch much television anymore, but going back 10years ago... I'd have to say Dragonball Z.
It's not on Australian TV anyway...

Futurama and Home Movies are the two shows I miss the most. Maybe TNG as well, if that counts.

@Josh: I was under the impression that the BSG storyline was coming to an end and that they didn't want to artificially draw it out just to make a buck. At least at the end of last season, I can't really see how it could go longer than one more season. But you are right, it's a great show and I'll miss it once it's gone.
Also on my list are Family Dog from when I was a kid, The Office (UK), Six Feet Under, The Sopranos, Two Fat Ladies, Seinfeld, and I'm Alan Partridge.

I'm Alan Partridge? That's fantastic.
"Back o' the net!"
Sure there are others, but I've been up a whole ten minutes, so not much is working yet, let alone that, um, thing in my skull.

You didn't hear Oli?
The writers knew that scifi was getting less and less impressed with BSG's ratings tumble (SG1's end really hurt it), so rather than drag the series out after having their funding cut in half, they decided to finish the story - something I applaud. There's nothing I hate more than a TV show which just drives itself into the ground for the last few seasons of it's life.
Season 4 will be the last, and I for one am glad. The second half of season 3 had too much filler already, so it's clear that they're running out of ideas and they just need to finish the main story arc.
I will of course miss it when it does end though. Like I miss Arrested Development and Futurama now.

Going back a little, the original Star Trek series and then Thirty Something. Every couple of years, there's an original Star Trek Marathon, and even though it looks pretty dated now, I still love it.

Not before you mentioned it. I've read about it now and yeah I've got to agree that bringing this to a close is probably a good idea... In retrospect, I think I would have used the last two seasons a little more effectively... They wasted a lot of time in places.
I just wish somebody could make all the relevant people see that continuing Firefly would make the most sense in the world ever. Culling something so great after 6eps and a film is a crime against humanity.

Another vote for Arrested Development.
I don't know why FOX ever picked it up in the first place: why would the same viewers who watch "When Gay Communist Sharks with Lasers Attack" and endless "Cops" reruns ever bother with such an intelligent show as AD?

I'd have to say Martin, Friends, and Sopranos. I could watch only those shows the rest of my life and be happy.

Alias and Buffy... I have the seasons on DVD and regularly rewatch to get my fix.

Now Firefly was an act of atrocity. It could have been so much, but nooo...they had to axe it before the first season was even completed.
At least Joss Whedon was smart enough to create Serenity to tie it all up. I don't like leaving stories without a proper send off.

Futurama (which is coming back from the dead: Zombie Futurama!)
Farscape
Firefly
@Josh, Oli: As for Battlestar Galactica, it's not being axed. The producers are ending it, since it's a story with a definite beginning, middle and end. (They'll reach Earth at the end of this season.) Yeah, their viewership sagged during season 3, but mostly because things felt like they weren't moving (they were spending so much time on character development that the story never moved along).
[Edit: Nix that. What Cyrris said.]

There's a lot of shows from the 80's & early 90's that I miss but I won't list them all. My most favorite shows were Perfect Strangers, Doogie Howser MD, Mr. Belvedere, and Happy Days.
What I really miss is the PBS educational shows Square One and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?. Those were some awesome learning experiences that I wish I could bestow on my children. I need to see if there are DVDs out yet.

*Farscape is coming back for some episodes but I won't watch it unless Aeryn and John come back. It was my favorite show...they better not botch this up.
Martin, In Living Color, FireFly and Medical Investigation

@All BSG fans: Yeah, I know it isn't being "axed" exactly, but rather coming to a respectable end. And I, like others, applaud that. One more season will let them wrap up the storyline and close the curtain, before having dragged out the show for far too long (ER, Simpsons, etc., I'm looking at you).
I'm certainly not angry about them killing it after this final season - I think it really does need to happen, especially after how mediocre most of season 3 was (season 2 was AMAZING) - but I will miss it. Guess I'll have to find another science fiction show to fall in love with.
I suppose I could continue watching all of the old seasons of SG1, which I've never seen. I'm at the beginning of season 2 now.

The Dick Van Dyke Show It used to be that you couldn't scan through the channels without finding it. Now I can't find it anywhere. Has it gone to DVD? Are they building demand?

Way before my time, but I love Laugh-In. So freaking funny even though it was from my parents' generation. I always thought it had the lasting power of SNL.

I'm with everyone on the Firefly thing. I also liked Veronica Mars. BSG is awesome, but not exactly getting axed.
One show I really liked was The Black Donnelys on NBC. Really good show.

1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
2. Angel
3. Star Trek: the Next Generation
4. The X-Files
5. Firefly
And, yeah, I'm sorta crushed about Battlestar. But, at the same time, it's fitting. The story couldn't go on for 10 years. I'd rather the show wrap up neatly than pull a Lost and go on waaaay too long.

but for all of you futurama fans, it is returning thanks to its high ratings on adult swim. the new seasons don't start until summer 08 i think but there will be a HD futurama movie coming out this winter, so look for it.

Trevor's World of Sport.
Sorry, this is a particularly British one, but it was a sitcom based in a Sports Agents office. Really good, but after just three episodes the BBC suddenly pulled it from broadcast, and after a two week interlude, moved it from a Friday to a Monday at a later hour. Strangely the audience figures were lower than Britney Spears standards because no one could ever find it in the schedules to watch!

Another vote for Firefly here. I thought Drive was quite interesting too... and they cut that one after like 4 shows (is there something about Nathan Fillion?).
I think Buffy ended at the right time (although it was great while it lasted).
Boy meets world. That show was great - and everyone at school used to called my brother Corey. Corey and my brother looked pretty similar :)

@Oli, Josh, Cyrris, Gnorb, BSG enthusiasts
Argh! I hadn't heard BSG was (taking care in not saying 'axed') coming to an end. If I hadn't just got myself hooked on Doctor Who — I'd be tearing my hair out.
My second vote goes to Arrested Development, Gob FTW!
X-Files' first few seasons were awesome, and I recently discovered that it's remarkably fun to re-watch them. Recommended, nostalgic escapade.

I'll move onto Angel after my current Buffy-watching binge (all of it over a few weeks) but I'll have to get X-Files after that... I'm going to need more harddisk space =(
I wish burnable DVD9s were cheaper.
