I've always loved the Olympics. No other sporting event allows me to sit down and soak up 24 hours of non-stop sports action with such a huge variety of sports. Here's the rundown of what I enjoy watching (I could just say everything to make it easier).
- Table Tennis (only time I ever get to catch it on TV)
- Sprints (track and field)
- Sprints (swimming)
- Gymnastics (probably the most tension filled)
What do you have to catch?

Olympic basketball doesn't do it for me. I'll follow the US, but watching a whole game just doesn't do it for me.

Track and field. Gymnastics as a second but I get hyped on track and field.

I'm still not sure I want to support this Olympics but I usually love getting a kick out of the lesser known sports like Badminton, Trampoline etc. They're just hilarious!
If I do watch I'll more than likely watch Swimming and Gymnastics.

I'll probably be "watching" whatever is streaming over the web while I work, but not really paying attention to it.

I'll definitely be watching gymnastics, since I was a gymnast in high school. And probably track and field. The diving competitions are usually pretty cool too.

I forgot one...women's beach volleyball...for obvious reasons.

As many as I can. (Anywhere I can stream them for free online? I sort of don't really have a TV with reception.)

How did I know that you would be the one to say something about that? And, no, my pics are tucked away lol.

Gymnastics, certainly. I don't really understand the draw of track and field, though.
Oh, and Judo. =)

I just read about the new scoring system in gymnastics and I understand why the did it, but I don't like it. Waiting to see a perfect 10 is what made the sport exciting for me. Not a 16.4.

I love to watch rhythmic gymnastics, synchronized swimming, diving.. But I hope I'd have time to watch the Olympics, and I hope my host has cable TV or whatever you guys call it in the US :D

Is rhythmic gymnastics the ribbon dancer stuff?
JPhill
Written Aug. 7, 2008 / Report /
Yes it is.
Scrivs, I definitely don't like the new scoring system at all.

I love the "silly" sports... like Curling in the winter and badminton in the summer.
I call them silly because HONESTLY, I would laugh out loud if I ever met a professional badminton player. The only people I've ever seen playing badminton were in their late 80's.

I love to watch them all, but gymnastics, swimming, and track are my favorites.

Does anyone else get a more "caveman doodle" feeling from their sport icons instead of a China feel?
These look like cave drawings to me... I expected something more oriental.

It's nice to see that we (the US) took a gold medal already.....in fencing, which I still have no idea how that works.

The US Women swept the medals in Fencing... it was cool to see all three US flags go up at the same time. First time in a LONG LONG time all three medalists were from one country in Indv. Fencing.

Michael Phelps was dominate last night, can't wait to see him try to win the rest of his races.
@Scrivs- The beach volley ball was also pretty good.

Great men's soccer for U.S., but they blow the lead in extra time.

Not sure who caught it on the East Coast, but if you had a chance to see the 4x100 Men's Freestyle swim then you no doubt saw the greatest relay race ever. Holy balls that was awesome. Jumped out off the couch and was cheering as loudly as they were in the arena.
Love me some Olympics.

We woke the kids up yelling at the TV. That was INSANE!
5th place broke the world record and only 800ths of a second spread 2nd from 1st.

The final leg of the relay was unbelievable!! I can't believe he came back from being almost a length behind. The look on the French swimmers' faces was priceless. Who's smashed now!!

Can any Mac users watch the games on NBColympics.com? Apparently I need Firefox 1,2,3 or Safari to view it and I only have FF 3.01.
Yeah you read that right.

Yeah fat chance I'm installing SilverLight to watch videos... that's what my DVR is for.
I wonder how much Microsoft paid NBC to force Silverlight on the public.

@liza: It was a BS call that gave Holland the opportunity for that score. It wouldn't bother me so much except that now we have to win against Nigeria without Freddy Adu. Likely we'll be playing against a bunch of outcast Nigerian princes who need to deposit millions into our bank accounts and who'll cut us in a piece of the action once we help them get their funds.

These Olympics are addictive. We were on vacation last week and watched the Olympics almost every night.
