You are sitting in front of the computer. But the internet is not available. Are you addicted to net?

What do you do? Painting, gaming, programming, switch off the computer to do other things or what else? I'm curious to know!

Go downstairs... interact...

Happened yesterday :P

Xbox. Go see a movie. Clean.

Work on the someday novel. It really helps to have the Internet off for that.

Aside from a quick trip to the lab I've been offline all weekend (damn phone company). I read, basically. Read a lot.

But I've little trouble finding me something to do on the computer when the line's dead. Like programming, drawing/designing, writing. I still feel half retarded without a connection though. Every now and then launching a browser to check something out, only to remember the cold hard truth. Ugh.

Stitching panorama photos.

Programming.

Scripting.

Web development.

Possibly looking at stompbox circuits.

nuttin'.
i shut it off ^_^;
when i have my internet, i actually do a lot more than just go online. photo editing, coding, writing. but without the internet my will to be on the computer at all is brutally murdered.

Go through the back-log of emails, writing replies and saving them for later.

Work on the someday book.

Work on ideas for future posts.

Turn it off and go read a book, go for a walk, go to the gym, watch a movie, clean the house...

I would definitely go and work in my garden...it is a form of relaxation for me. I would go out and take some photographs. I would continue writing my two books, and I would also read, while listening to music.

I might hike in the surrounding hillsides. There is always something to do.

My wife.

It's a very large computer.

i usually clean things up, rip dvds, go through my "to file" folder on the desktop :D

I just watch tv or play some xbox when the cable goes out. It does drive me crazy when the internet goes out though.

Usually sort through my stock and mash it up for a while. Let the mind flex a bit and get those creative juices going. Sides, you can only look at pr0n for so long anyways. ;-)

I play with photoshop or go read a book.

I really love the internet.

I just sit here and constantly click on reload until my service returns.

@Gnorb and @carmodyarc - Lol.

Write in my journal and read a book. Watch my TiVo queue. Play with the nearest cat.

Seriously? I turn it off. I can't even Photoshop without knowing I'm connected to the Internet.

I have a local copy of the whole Internet stored on many hundreds of hard drives. I just browse that.

I switch off the TV and peacefully read one of may favorite books or play a game of chess!

@Rich: Whoohooo! The Internet Archive is jealous of you.

I don't have internet @ home currently so I just do all the "play work" stuff I couldn't do @ work at home and then save it to my USB Memory Stick.

It's a LOT easier to work sometimes with no distractions.

@carmodyarc and @Rich: Very funny responses, thanks for making me chuckle.

If the internet isn't working for me, I usually take it as a sign to do something else completely unrelated. Reading a book, re-organising the music collection on the shelves, I may even do some housework. If I feel the need to still be on the computer though, I'll work on some future posts.

Time for errands, cleaning my house, gardening, HGTV and Lifetime.

Looking at my personal folder at the computer, cleaning stuffs up, rename some files :D
Or make myself a cup of warm tea or coffee.

Also it is a sign for me to tidy up my desk :D

I usually have a little cry. Then I'll either work on the latest writing project, harass the dog or knit something.

After I wipe off the tears, wouldn't want them doing any irreparable harm, I'll usually chat with the family, or read, or sit outside, or, if I can work up my inner Lombardi, I'll motivate the family for a game of Bocce. While the shock can be a little harsh, I usually find myself pleased when the internet is not available. I try to use it as an opportunity for mindfulness. Try to.
