This program is free and worth it's weight in gold. It's invaluable to me as I work a lot with graphics. The program is Fast Image Resizer.
When I'm working with a lot of pictures I've just taken and need them all resized, I just drag and drop the folder with the pictures into the program and it automatically starts resizing all of them and creates a new sub-folder to put them all in. It still leaves all my originals in tact as I often use them to create slide shows.
What's your favorite free software?

Wordpress and Windows Live Writer. I use them both. A lot.

I agree. I am so a fan of Wordpress but when the moved from 1.5 to 2.0 I nearly had a fit at the changes and bugs. I hate change :) I'm gradually getting used to it and discovering plugins for it all over again. I just pray they don't do another huge change for at least a couple of years.
I must say I love all the free Wordpress themes you can get. Invaluable.

I love all things Google (gmail, docs, calendar, etc) but beyond that I like:
- Twitterific (mac): desktop twitter app
- CyberDuck (mac): FTP client with handy dashboard app
- ScreenShotPlus (mac): Perfect for taking and editing screen shots
- Smultron (mac): HTML and CSS editor
- Safari: Web browser done right
Admittedly most of the apps are for macs, I try not to buy into the fanboyism, but I own a mac so I seek out those types of apps.
*WordPress is pretty much amazing, I don't care what anyone says that is content management at its best.

Like a few other people have mentioned, I'd have to say WordPress.

Safari here.
I use wordpress a lot and when I'm not tinkering with it I love it. Every time I want to make it do something new I hate it with a passion.

WordPress and Adium. I dunno why I chose Adium, but it is one of the very few free Mac programmes that I use all the time.

Linux is pretty good =)
All the OSX users shouldn't forget its underpinning: BSD.. That's pretty important, you know, however much you take it for granted.

I know, oli. BSD is important to Mac OS X but keep in mind that I prefer Mac OS X because I need to use a laptop and Linux support for laptops is flaky.

I wasn't trying to start a OSX vs Linux talk, just saying that my operating system is open and free and saying that the basis for OSX is also free.

Definitely Wordpress and Adium for me. Firefox would rank up there pretty high, and is something I use everyday.

@RightOn: Off of the Twitterific site:
My favorite: Firefox hands down. It's the one I use the most. If I used a Mac it might be Adium lol.

Firefox - window to the Internet world. Without it, there are no other free software to download. (considering you don't know what IE is).
