I have been using outliners for quite sometime. But vimoutliner was the best choice for me since I am working in vim most of the time. So I have not been aware of other editors in this domain much.

A couple of my friends recently tried to adopt it, but failed to find a good outliner editor for Windows and Linux. Do you use outliners? Have any favorites?

I really miss the VS.net outlining features. I still think (though I've been cheating on it while I've been in Linux) that it's one of the best IDEs around.

Damn I wish I had a $billion lying around so I could buy the dev team and rights from MS and GPL .net and vs.net =(

Edit: if anybody knows of a nice outliner/code-folder for gedit, please feel free to poke me in its general direction.

If you have a mac then OmniOutliner is pretty fantastic

OmniOutliner was my BFF in college.

Oli, I agree with you that VS is a great IDE, I actually haven't used it in a while now. For .Net I have worked more in SharpDevelop/MonoDevelop.

Omnioutliner looks great, but is only for OS X :-( I wish it was cross platform.
