Is it just me? Why am I being bothered with this?

When I was a teenager, I always had that same dream - 'zero-gravity fall from some cliff', then I was told that was because I was growing. Seems logical because ever since I stopped growing, I have never had that dream again.

Now this one, I have been trying to figure out its scientific, medical, superstitious, ...whatever relations.

'your gum's getting very very sore
your teeth start getting loose...looser
you feel the pain, the actual physical pain
and the fear of teeth unable to grow back
then, and then...
the teeth start to fall off one after another'

ewwww...It feels so real even after waking up.

What's this to do with my brain activity during the day? or my physical condition? ... or deceased family member as some superstitious explanation???

Why do I keep having this same dream?

Are your wisdom teeth finally coming through? =P

^O^ No wisdom teeth as yet.

Does that mean I am young or dumb?

I remember being told teeth falling out dreams are often a sign of stress. Not sure how valid that one is.

If you hold any stock in dream interpretation, the traditional meaning of teeth falling out is impending failure or death -- or worrying about those things.

From the way you describe it, it seems like you're examining them/noticing the problem before it happens, which would indicate you should be careful in your current endeavours.

I don't think all dreams are meaningful, really I think most are just random synaptic firings as your brain sorts out the subconcious. I have had a few experiences both myself, and from those close to me that makes me wonder about some things though.

My mother in law has had very accurate prophetic dreams. In each case it's had to do with health/physical state of people she's close to, so instead of outright prophecy, it's probably just her subconciously picking up on things, but still... very interesting.

A few years ago, I had a recurring dream over a span of maybe 3 months. At the start of the 3 months, it was just me lying in bed and noticing a small spider on the wall above me. By the end of the 3 months, it had grown to a huge thing with legs as thick as my thighs, and eyes as big as my head. But it never did anything more than just chill out up on the wall above my head. It freaked me the hell out, I was a wreck.

I don't think it was in any way prophetic (there are about eight hundred interpretations of spiders in dreams) or a result of any life events -- life was just life. There were no family deaths, no particularly stressful things going on, no worries.

I thought about it for a while and eventually decided that the only reason it was recurring and becoming more intense was because it itself was freaking me out.

@Rich: good to know am not alone.

I always go to this website to interpret my dreams and it's accurate most of the time.

back when i was 17/18 i was always being chased through this barren desolate place by a deformed giant who wanted to smash me to bits with his equally giant chicken drumstick

Hoooooly hot damn I have the same dream about losing my teeth! Normally my adult teeth or a single tooth will become loose, then throughout the dream it will get looser and looser until falling out at the end of the dream.

I always get that teeth falling out dream.

I wonder is Freud had something to say about that. Teeth is an archetype of some kind, but I forgot what it represents. Usually though it doesn't mean anything to me. It's usually the more vivid dreams that I have that mean something.

Dreams like this.

Do you guys dream in color or in black and white?

One of my professors said that most people dream in black and white; he has only dreamed in black and white.

I dream in muted colors.

I don't think I ever dream in black and white...

i had a dream once that went from HDTV to rough charcoal sketches once, it was kinda freaky

I used to have recurrent dreams too, and I don't know what they meant either.

As for the color conundrum, I can't really be sure what I dream. When I recall dreams, I always see them in color, but that might be my brain adding it in afterward.

My dreams are exactly like Mike's. And I can actually feel the pain, very very painful, maybe even more painful than in reality.

Apart from dreams in color, have you ever been able to eat things in your dreams? I cannot remember mine, but one of my professors said he can never eat things. It was always that close and then he woke up or something else happened in dreams.

I don't dream in color and I don't remember food or ever eating. What is strange though, is that in the present, my Mom uses a walker and part of her body is paralyzed but never in my dreams! She moves at the same speed and in the same way as she always did before the stroke.

While I can't comment on the meaning of your dream, I would like to say that because it is such a recurring dream you may be able to become lucid while dreaming, that is to say aware that you are in an actual dream and able to control it. Change it.

I've had a few such experiences, rare but possible. Good luck.

@Cappuccino:

I thought I could control it or ignore it due to the recurrance, but it's out of control every time when it comes to dream again. And even in the dream your subconsciousness tells you that it's a dream, but the pain is so real and the falling-off is so real that it simply blurs the line between dream and reality.

I've been told many times that the whole 'teeth falling out' dream relates to anxiety or nerves. My whole family get this dream when they have big appointments, or in my case rugby matches, the next day.

Gee I hate that teeth falling out dream. It wakes me up in a sweat. No pain just keep spitting out those teeth.
Cant think of anything its related to.

I used to dream about my teeth breaking and falling out too. Then my dentist pointed out that I am grinding my teeth flat, and he made a bite block for me. No more dreams about my teeth! They have been replaced by bad dreams about work....

I don't think I ever dream in black and white...

Try dreaming in Chinese ...

PS: Funny, isn't it, that our dreams are always in the language(s) we're most comfortable with?
