Not all Christians are fundamentalists. There are a couple of liberal christians that I know, and I even know a couple of Christians in the LGBT community, far from fundamentalist Christianity, I can assure you. There are also Unitarian Universalists that have Christian beliefs.

@JohnBaker:
If you believe in evolution, then is there not logic in saying that the poisoned will not survive? This was very big talk though from someone who seems to think he's absolutely right about everything, how you have gotten through most of your life being so closed minded is shocking to me. At least you seem to be happy, despite your apparent vindictiveness towards anyone who doesn't agree with you.

Bartoneus, if there were any logic in your statement in the previous post, would you be here?

Please define the "here" you are referring to, and as always your kindness and compassion for others warms my heart!

You're a funny man, B. Where I come from most of us know where 'here' is. I never had to define it before. Maybe you think it might be 'hear', but you'd be wrong and maybe just a little deaf.
Here is here, or it was last time I looked.
But listen, I'm not gonna point right at it, OK; I want you to do this one on your own.

Finally you exhibit a sliver of kind personality, even if it is doused in wit and sarcasm - that's the kind I like. Now let's look at your previous comment:
I'll do this one on my own and assume the "here" you vaguely and snidely refer to means existing, in which case you're calling me a poison and implying that if poisons were eliminated via evolution that people like me would no longer be around. I expect no less from you at this point.
Here's the question I should have asked you from the beginning: if you feel so strongly that religion is a poison, why isn't it gone already?

There you go again, B; trying to walk on your head. Logic is, I'm afraid to have to tell you, somewhat more complicated than that.
You are not allowed to assert that "no, religion is definitely not a poison or it'd be done and gone by now," and then try to justify yourself by asking me why it is still here?
It's still here for the same reason that many other poisons are still here. 'Because we haven't managed to get rid of it yet.' It's still here for the same reasons that ignorance and poverty are still here.
But all of these things are being addressed. In the not too distant future we shall, hopefully, dismantle these particular poisons.
The day is nigh, as you guys sometimes say.

Man, there is nothing more fun than watching people argue about who is more logical.
Why don't the both of you just get right to it and whip it out with a ruler and call it finished.
Geez.

Oh come on RightOn, can't we have a conversation/argument without it really being a pissing contest? I'm just trying to get some clues as to what could make a person like John how he is, is that so wrong?
Good luck with that, feel free to give me a call when that happens. The way you talk about religion is no different than how religious biggots talk, just with no supernatural excuses.
This was the kind of answer I was looking for, and so thank you for (finally) getting to it. My suggestion for the future is to not act so self-righteous when dealing with someone less educated than yourself, you should be happy with the opportunity to educate others.

Well it was just getting so silly with comments like Logic is, I'm afraid to have to tell you, somewhat more complicated than that.
It's like people who tell me I can't have an opinion on subject A because I don't have the right credentials or education.
Glad to see you got something out of him finally though :)

Why not? It's fun.
You can't. Who told you you can? Stop making up the rules! We're your BETTERS. YOUR BET-TERS! Go out and study... whatever... for a few years, then come back and talk to me, until that time, here's $3, go buy yourself something yummy to cram your mouth with.
/Wait, what?

It's not the pipe. It's the writing of a 1200 page manual which just had 20 PAGES WIPED OUT BECAUSE OF MICROSOFT WORD'S A BUCKETFULL OF SUCK!
/MS Word 2007 is the Windows ME of word processors: buggy to the core.
