Today's Quofda asks why aren't you working? Maybe you really don't have a job or maybe you do and just aren't working, but what are the reasons? Asked on any other day this week I would have said because I was in the Bahamas, but now that I am back I have returned to the grind.
For a previous job I had my answer would be very simple: because I hated the organization and didn't believe in it. It seems you either work to pay bills or work because you believe in what your company is doing. Hopefully everyone here is doing the latter.

I am not working at this exact moment because I just arrived in my office, having spent most of the morning delivering the news to my 12 year old son who has been sick all week and so has missed five days of homework that he still has to do the homework and, no, he cannot go to the skate park today because he HAS HOMEWORK.
As you might imagine, I'm so tired right now that nothing but a little 9rules will cure what's ailing me.

Everyone knows the only surefire cure for sickness is a little skate park action on Friday.

Because I can't keep a decent web connection.

Because no one is calling in orders, so I'm bored and I'm working on iPod Touch icons.

Because it's No Faculty Friday (NFF) so no one's there to notice I didn't come in and stayed in bed.

Scrivs, You'd be a great dad. Don't forget to do that someday, okay?
I'm just guessing you've had to deliver this kind of news more than once yourself Tyme, and not just to Scrivs and Mike.

Right now? Because it's Friday night, baby.
Generally? I do work and for the most part, enjoy it. But to move on to something really exciting would take courage, and that is something I'm still looking for.

I'm not working right this second because it's Sunday but I'm already making my mental list of what I will do at work this week. I'm passionally commited to my work but not every part of it. Enough to rise every morning at 5 am. It's the field itself and the setting I am commited to.
