Hey everyone! I need help...
I posted on my blog this morning, an offer to our Presidential Candidates of a free guitar lesson at my studio in order to help me and my readers decide who to vote for come this November!
It's a wild hair, I know, but I think this idea has some legs considering how screwy this primary season has been.
I need massive Diggs/Stumbles/Myspace Bulletins/Facebook walls/etc. to get the word spread so that it will hit a staffers desk.
How cool would it be to have Barack in here jamming to a blues?
So, I'm asking for you to check out the post and if you like it, help spread the word for me. If I'm lucky enough to get them in, I'll definitely post about the experience and link to the news video!
Thanks everyone!

I don't see how their "jammin" skills relate to their electability... I know people who loved that Bill Clinton played the saxophone, but that still didn't sway their vote.
I guess with all the petty crap like the color of someones skin or what they were blessed with in terms of anatomy and hormones when they were conceived, being a factor in how electable someone is, or how misogynistic or racist one is for ignoring that factor... whether or not they can jam on a guitar would matter to SOMEONE out there.
Guess not for me though. Good Luck

Yeah, I sorta agree with RightOn. If you were going to use the lesson to talk about some of the issues that you and your students and community have then that might be different.
My big question would be why would they want to meet with you? You're not an established journalist, so meeting with you could be a risk to a campaign. Who knows, you could turn out to be a crazy. (I'm sure you're not, but they wouldn't really know that) I don't know how many people your teaching and blog puts you into contact with, but would it be enough to pull a candidate away from possibly more "lucrative" events in terms of publicity?
I think it's a cool idea, I like to see candidates when they're not campaigning. It's important to me to see what kind of person they are from day to day. If you get it done, I'd love to see it, I'm just not sure you'll be able to hook a major candidate. Maybe Ron Paul would do it if he were still around...

Ron Paul won't even answer email interviews with political blogs, so I don't think he'd show up to a Jam session.
I agree with carmodyarc, I could see it being a possibility if FOX wanted to have the Candidates jam on American Idol or something but I'm not to sure they would see it worth the risk otherwise.

I hate those, I try to destroy them as quickly as possible.

Good luck to you. If folks decide who will earn their vote in the primaries or November election by learning how to play the guitar---this world and nation is in worst shape than even I thought! There are extremely important things you could do, such as providing transportation to those that need it to get to the voting booth. Contact the Senior Centers near you.

I personally would prefer that my candidate, and all candidates for that matter, would stay off entertainment shows in general. I seriously hope they don't have time for guitar lesson blog schemes - they barely have time to do their real jobs, and haven't for two years now.
I'd rather see issues addressed on blogs, rather than publicity schemes, when it comes to political candidates. Neither means much but the schemes would leave a nasty taste in my mouth.
If my candidate shows up there I want my money back.

oh come on guys :)
For those of you that need it...
"Sarcasm Switch on" before you read the post.
Let me state that I would not choose a candidate by how well they played or if they played at all, ala Cousin Bill.
While it would be cool to get one of them in here, I still think playing w/Barack would be great, I didn't mean for you all to think I was really going to choose by their playing skills.
My intent was that in this crazy primary season, the candidates might be willing to do anything to get more exposure, and we all know they hit the diners and small businesses while stumping. It just might be crazy enough to have them stop in (the guitar playing is a bonus).
Again, my bad for coming across as being serious -
Thanks for posting though!

Yup, it's called pandering :) Make the voter see you on their level and somehow THINK you're on their level.

I so dislike it when candidates appear on talk and entertainment shows.
Leave the guitars and lessons out of it.

I say go for it. I think it'd be unbelievably awkward and funny to watch. But then, I generally despise 99% of politicians, so I don't have as much hope wrapped up in them as some.
