I've decided to start releasing the bulk of my "print worthy," photography under a creative commons license.
I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier. I do get paid for my work, but I never seek out paying jobs--I simply don't have the time. I will do a wedding here or there, or events, when someone refers people to me. I never use the money for anything other than upgrading or getting new photo gear. I give away prints to friends... so what was stopping me?
Well nothing now! This morning I'm releasing my first CC photo. This is a panorama of the west Texas landscape I drove through a couple weeks back.

I'm releasing the full resolution pano (13674x1903 px,) as well as a couple wallpaper crops.
Visit my website to download large versions of this file.
When I find the time I'm going to be going through my portfolio and releasing high res versions of all my favourite prints. I'm anxious to see people use them in their own works.

Wow, that's nice! Very sharing of you to release it under Creative Commons. It will be cool to see your pictures in other people's works.

That's a bold move but cool. I've always had mine under an "attribution - no derivs - non-commercial" license. I think I dropped the no derivs though, because, well, if you share, you have to let them play as well.
I've had quite a few pics used here and there and it's always nice when people do let you know or ask your permission.
As far as the non-com goes, I have that in case someone does make a bundle using a pic in a way I don't like so I have some sort of leg to stand on. Or that would be the theory.
Well done. Welcome to the club ;)

Creative Commons is awesome. I've released all of my photos under the license since I started my blog. Unfortunately, I haven't really had as many people using my stuff as I had hoped.
Here's a great video of a talk that the CC CEO Lawrence Lessig gave at TED.

CC is a practical thing for most people, I think. It's definitely been both a convenience and a benefit for me.
