A navy polo from J. Crew with a long white tank top underneath. Dark denim skinny jeans with purple Crocs. If I'm not wearing my Crocs (in a variety of colors) I'm wearing ballet flats or flip flops. Also, I know that Crocs are hideous, but they're super comfortable.

Today was a work day for me in a public school so I had on my usual "professional - expected - appropriate" look ie. a coordinated skirt and top with the pantyhose and low heeled shoe look. Seconds after coming through the door was my instant ratty bathrobe and slippers!

@auburn,

I'm just like you. Except I don't work in a public school and today was one of my off days. So when I'm not working, I carry on a somewhat preppy but laid back style. Also, as soon as I get home (no matter how comfortable I am) I always throw on some sweatpants and slippers! That's a must.

I will go a step further and show you what I'm wearing, although not on myself. I don't have a digital camera with me (left it in NY).

I'm wearing these jeans. Normally, I wouldn't spend so much on jeans, but I was super excited to find out that AE now carries my size. They didn't the last time I looked, which I admit was a really long time ago when I was in high school.

I'm wearing a plain black t-shirt so I don't think you'd need a picture of it.

I'm wearing this hoodie. I caught my girlfriend's obsession with stripes, she calls them stripe-eds.

These shoes right now, but earlier I was wearing these ones. I have an obsession with sneakers and easily own over 50, however, I left all but 4 pairs in NY. I am trying to tame myself.

I'm also wearing my pirate hat, since I'm growing my hair out a bit and it looks pretty crappy at the moment.

@joshuawesome,

I used to wear AE jeans back in the Anorexic days. They do have some alright styles, but my jeans I own now are Gap. And jeans are hard to find, especially when you find the right style and fit, it's like you found the golden ticket.

cristinam: I agree. It's hard for me to find jeans that I can suitably wear because of my gut, although I'm working on that part. I usually stick with Old Navy, because their boot cut fits well on me, but I tried AE out and their boot cuts aren't that bad either.

I'm going to heavily invest in a belt in the next coming months, because I don't plan on buying new jeans until I lose some weight. Jeans are too expensive and I am really determined to lose enough weight for me to be at least healthy.

joshawesome that's a little weird that our outfits were damn near the same today. My sweater is gray striped like that except it's not a zip, it's just two buttons at the top.

In addition, wore some jeans and casual black shoes from Kenneth Cole. It makes a world of difference being able to wear jeans at work.

Now I'm just wearing some sweat pants and t-shirt......my freelance work clothes :)

@jphill,

Oh I wish I could wear jeans to work! My work attire must be very simple black. Black top, but not v-neck or collared shirt, and black pants, but not cuffed. I can't get away with wearing anything "fun" to work.

JPhill: That's weird and awesome all at the same time. If I didn't have to do laundry, I'd probably be in sweats and a tshirt too.

I'm in my jammies now but at work today I was wearing:

a bubble short-sleeved silk wrap blouse w/big kelly green polka dots on white (INC International Concepts),
black pencil skirt with front middle slit (Laundry Shelli Segal),
black patent peep-toe pumps with silver button accents (BCBGirls)

@estarla,

So many women love skirts, but I could never pull it off. My boyfriend loves my long legs, but sometimes I feel a bit self-conscious showing them off. Skirts from what I see in the magazines are popular this season. Sure, I'd find cute skirts in stores like J. Crew, but I'd never wear them. Ever.

I wore a skirt...once. It wasn't fun. :)

I'm so glad that I get to wear whatever I want when I'm working.

@joshuawesome,

Skirts can ride up in dark places. It's not attractive to pick at it, but if you want to get comfortable again, it's the only option. Either pick at it in public or do it in a private spot. Skirts are something I'll never wear, even if they'd look amazing on me.

@cristinam:

Tights have really been in, lately. Would you consider skirts/dresses if you had tights? They actually look really cute sometimes--and probably especially on you since you have long legs because the only complaint is that they make girls look short and stubby. :)

I was a tomboy so I have tons of scars on my legs so I know what you mean about being self-conscious about them! After awhile, though, I got sick of wearing pants to work and wanted variety (I can't wear jeans because we have to look professional all the time since we don't know when our clients are going to drop in--clients who have 7 or 8 figures invested if you know what I mean). So I succumbed to the skirt thing. And sometimes the dress thing, since it's really easy because you don't have to remember what pieces matched with what in the morning. ;)

Now I could care less about the scars on my legs. I guess it comes with the line of work or something. Meh. I work with all guys, anyway, and I belch louder than any of them. It's all in the mindset!

Then again, if you don't like 'em, you don't like 'em and that's fine! :)

@joshawesome:

Envious of your (lack of) work dress code.

@estarla,

I was in a J. Crew today and I saw that the mannequins were put in bright, pink tights. I don't know if I'd even do tights of a certain color, but maybe who knows. Because the colder weather is coming, it's not like I wouldn't go without tights because something's gotta cover my legs. Oh, then again there's the whole leggings under skirts. Now that's interesting!

If it weren't for societal norm, I'd likely be a goddamn nudist. Came home from uni, and the first thing I got rid of was my shirt.

Other than what's lacking, I've got my camo pants. I love camo. :)

@leilathomas,

Did you know that J. Crew has a camo printed sweatshirt? I gasped when I saw it because camo really isn't their "thing", but maybe they're trying to branch out. I think camo is cool, but not everything should be camo printer. Just some things, like wellie boots and yes, pants.

estarla: I like my lack of a dress code. I mean, I could start one, but what would be the point? It's just me. :)

I'm a huge camo fan, although I take it in strides. I have camo shorts and a camo long sleeve tshirt, but I don't wear them at the same time. I'm not in the army. I saw a couple of guys wearing head to toe camo the other day and thought they were in the army. Realized they just liked camo.

Cristinam: I don't even know who/what J. Crew is. I don't pay attention to brands. Camo is in currently, which is why it's getting printed a lot, I guess. (I was wearing it back when the cool kids weren't, though, dammit!)

@leliathomas,

J. Crew is a clothing company for men, women and most recently children. Their clothing is best described as preppy with a twist. They tend to do some strange things, but sometimes they really hit the mark. Also, their clothing has gotten more pricey over the years due to narrowing out the clientele that they don't want shopping at their store. So sad...

I've changed into my pajamas now because it's almost midnight, but for the first half of the day I was wearing a black v-neck short sleeved t-shirt with a pale pink, subtly brocade patterned pashmina scarf, straight-legged jeans, pink ballet flats, and a black tote bag. For the second half of the day, I changed into a plum-coloured short-sleeved wrap t-shirt over a black lace-edged tank top, a necklace with a bird charm on it, dark denim skinny jeans, black pointy-toed skimmers, a trench coat, and a black handbag.

I only wear tailored suits...I wish.

I only wear tailored suits...I wish.

Bond. James Bond. That and really skimpy swim suits. Nut huggers I call them.

I wore some ratty sport shorts and a beat-up Google t-shirt all day long, barefoot. Flip flops were thrown on to take the dog out. Welcome to my work-at-home life :)

Mike, if it weren't so cold, I would have probably worn the same thing. That and I actually had to go somewhere today. Well, it was just out to dinner, but still. It's rainy, and cold, and I wanted to look awesome. I'm self-centered.

I'm wearing very dark navy (almost black) skinny denim, black V sweater and a pair of black sneakers. Going for black today ;)

@rackarns,

Sounds good with the skinny denim (plus it's dark denim, a favorite of mine). It's chilly outside today so I'll probably do the same, I think. And as far as wearing black, I have to wear black to work (very simple black, not trendy black) and I find it to be the most boring thing ever.

white avirex shirt with all over skull print
dark worn old navy jeans
classic chuck tailors
invictus watch
skull ring
black LRG hoodie with 9rules, buff monster and badtofu buttons on it

At work right now so it's a pair of relaxed fit blue jeans, a gray screen print t-shirt of mario, luigi, and a bob-omb under a green/black/white/yellow plaid button up collared shirt, black leather american eagle shoes that i got on sale at payless, and my id/access badge on a lainyard that our security policy deams I visibly wear on my person. Accessory-wise, it's the old pager & carabiner with work keys & usb thumb drive for saving the day. When I leave I'll put on my black leather overcoat and black flat cap for the drive home.

A pair of Levi 527 Jeans (blue)

with some old Nike's from 2000 with a long sleeved denim blue tshirt.

I never wear anything THAT special ;)

Rockin the full windsor under a cashmere sweater and red chucks to let em know I'm still a kid.
