Apple redesigns their Downloads Page

Apple Community — Posted: Nov. 10, 2007  ...   Last By: Scrivs @ 1 year ago

I noticed this morning that Apple's downloads page has been redesigned. The Sliding Ajax menus have been reduced to a minimum. It's a lot easier to navigate and far more useful.

I don't use any of them. gmail is the reason that media defender's emails are now on the bittorrent networks. I don't think they're secure and I like to have my work on media I own and have in my possession.

Is the iPhone, iPod part deux

Apple Community — Posted: Oct. 3, 2007

With the advent of the iPhone update 1.1.1. Is this Apple's attempt to retroactively lock the iPhone environment down like it's iPod. Taking away what was giving to iPhone adopters in the form of third party apps. Only to later sell those apps back to iPhone users through an iPhone itunes store?

» Is Apple becoming the next evil tech Empire?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Gnorb.

In the interest of full disclosure.
I did purchase a iPhone the first weekend they were out and I love it as much now as I did then. I was surprised by the 200.00 Price Drop. Not by the fact there was a price drop, but the fact it was cut by a third. Cell Phones are always subject to price reductions. I mean those free phones have to come from somewhere right? But I wasn't mad or calling it a early adopters tax. I was still happy with my purchase. I was glad to get the 100.00 credit. But if I had not that would not have kept me from suggesting the iPhone to friends.

I mean evil as in seeming to shaft their customers. I've been seeing a lot of press asking this question and answering the question yes they are. I wanted to get the 9rules communities take on it.

Is Apple becoming the next evil tech Empire?

Apple Community — Posted: Sep. 26, 2007  ...   Last By: Gnorb @ 1 year ago

With the success of the iPod,iPhone and iTouch and Apple's fight to keep 3rd party apps off these devices. Is Apple becoming the next Evil Corporation we will love to hate?

Isn't FreeBSD considered Unix?
That is what MAC OSX is based on if I'm remember correctly.
If I'm wrong and it is linux what is the difference between linux and unix.

» Adobe's really shaking in their boots over Silverlight  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Kyle.

I'm no Microsoft Fanboy. "or BGBB (Bill Gates Butt Boy)"
But Oli is dead right in the fact the Microsoft supports it's developers. It's one of the things they do best. Apple has looked at what they do and has started to emulate it in its own efforts to support its own developers and to move some people from the C++ camp to the Objective C camp.

Microsoft offers killer development environments and .net brings a lot of traditional non web programming languages to the web party. Adobe will feel heat from Silverlight because there are a ton more Microsoft Developers in various languages than there will ever be Flex developers. So who will win? Who knows. But it will be fun to watch.

» Why does it now take 3 hours to install Adobe apps?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by RightOn.

I've never heard of it taking hours to install anything. I think your computer needs to be looked at. The CS3 Suite does have annoyances, like if you move a application. Such as put the applications in a sub folder some sort of link is broken and you get a dialog box saying need your password to repair the link. But the next time you open the same application it asks again.

Major Pain!

Man that logo is really bad for a new web 2.0 startup sure. But this is Photoshop. Adobe would have done better to stick with the colored square icon of CS3

» The reason why there is no Flash Player on the iPhone?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by carmodyarc.

I agree that could be a reason. A more likely reason is that the iPhone will be supported in the final release of the next version of the flash player. There is so much legacy content that could be assessed through the iPhone. I can think of no good reason to exclude iPhone support.

The feature I'm longing for is to be able to control my home from my new iPhone. Yes. Call me crazy. But I have a feeling that we will all be walking around out homes like Commander Koenig on Moon Base Alpha. Opening our doors with the iPhone. "Sorry classical reference, had to be done"

And I also look forward to Spaces and Mail.
