I live in North Carolina. Currently, Weather.com says it is 91 degrees. It "feels" like 99. Humidity is 50%.
I would die without A/C. It's not even the worst of summer, yet.

pierrelourens1 and I'd love to talk to anyone :) (in a not creepy way)
Kweenkong: I thought it was "transformed into a gigantic insect?"
Or maybe my teacher was mistaken.
If my laptop screen is open: I'm online. If I don't talk to anyone or don't use Adium for >15 minutes, it automatically sets me to idle. That's it.
When I'm away from my computer, I close the lid: so I'm offline anyway. That's when e-mail is a more appropriate way to contact me.
I'm a touch typist, and I type around 90 words per minute without error. I could do faster, but then I'd have to backspace, which is aggravating. I can't stand looking at the keyboard, especially if I'm multitasking on the computer.
Philbowell: try Typing Test.com; it's free.
Flash is aggravating, bad for accessibility, a pain to load, and impossible to link to. The only good thing I see for it is the most popular use: videos on Youtube, Google Video, etc.
Just explain to them the advantages of standards based CSS design, and show some examples of what it can do (CssZengarden type stuff).
I try to get around 8, like everyone else. But normally, I hover around 7. If I woke up without the alarm, I'd probably naturally get closer to 9, which is what I get on the weekends. Anymore than that and I feel groggy for the rest of the day :(
Vienna is more Mac-ish to me, and Google products always seem to work best on Firefox on a PC. So I'm with Cas, and I have stuck with the open source Vienna. It works awesome for me.
As for feeds? I have 27 right now, after a major deletion.
"To succeed in the world it is not enough to be stupid, you must also be well-mannered."
-Voltaire

Basically I'm a dork :)
The first line of the new book I just started, Sharp Objects, by Gillian Flynn doesn't exactly tell as much about the plot as it characterizes the main character:
"My sweater was new, stinging red and ugly"
"down in the river to pray"
haha. from the o'brother where art thou soundtrack. you have to admit that movie was awesome.
I think it's important to avoid sarcasm during writing, mainly because you never know who can/will read it. When you say it in front of them, you can see and interpret the reaction. On blogs and websites, they can just lurk away--pissed off.
I still agree that content is the most important thing, no matter what.
Bloglily: The worst opening for a blog post would have to be, "I'm really sorry for not writing lately..."
Hah, I guess I should practice what I'm preaching. This is a note though, not a book. :)
Hello, my name is Pierre, enough with the introductions.
I think a lot of time I am most influenced and amazed by effective/entertaining opening blogs. This idea can be applied to writing fiction, blogging, non-fiction, or a combination of all three. For example, someone in my creative writing class today started their character monologue by saying, "What if the world were to blow up today; what would I do?"
I don't know about you guys, but awesome opening lines are what make me want to read a book, story, poem, anything immediately. It's this type of good writing, even in blogs, that makes me lovev being in the community.
Matter of fact, I wrote a blog post with a slightly modified version of the my classmate's great opening line. I started the blog post by saying, "If the world were to end today, and I was the only person who knew, this is what I would do." Simple, but effective.

I'm a liberal, and it's not just because my parents are (because they are conservative). But, first of all, war is inevitable. Study history, it always happens. Peace is impossible, I don't want to stick to that any longer. Second, I feel for Bush. He is somewhat a victim of circumstance--he walked into a country that had been ignoring terrorists for a decade. Honestly, let's not be so ignorant. We knew they were there. We knew they were coming. It was just a matter of time before it would happen.
Finally, to end my rant, anyone in their right mind who blames President Bush for 9/11 is absurd.
"Hey guys! Watch this!!"
Google's old Google Reader was not sufficient for me, but now it is. It all depends on your amount of feeds. One thing I would steer away from is the built in rss-readers of browsers--you get kind of locked into one browser.
For about 70 feeds, GReader works fine for me.
Dude, this is pretty cool, Josue. I can't wait until we see more of these... it really helps to get to know the members.
1337.
Because, well. you know.
Whenever someone asks me what I want to be when I grow up, I act as if I'm pondering for a long time. Then, I say, "I've decided... I want to be a billionaire."
You seem to be acting like you are covering up, a lot. Just kiddin'
Anyway, I wouldn't really care. The one thing I will definetly break up (or not even go out with), is if the chick sells herself on myspace. You know, those people that live on Myspace and put emo bathroom shots up...ughh.

Since I am in honors classes, I often do independent study. It works very well, and the teacher educates students who opt not for independent study.
