No.
If I get a note about something not working.. I'll download a trial or free version to check it out, but that's not happened. I don't think it's through any good design on my part, I just think my opera audience is so small it doesn't matter.

I would love to go more often, but we don't have any shows come very close to where I am.
Downtown Dallas does get some good shows, but the on broadway theatre there is horrible, less legroom than a flight in coach seats, there's posts in the way of the view of stage...
But aside from that, it's the publicity. I never know something is showing unless I take a trip downtown (45 minute drive when there's no traffic, 1.5 hours if there is.)
When I lived in Louisville, KY I went rather often. Several good theatres, both on and off broadway. We even had a theatre just a mile from my rural hometown. My sister directs there now.
Kimi Ga nozomu Eien is awesome, as well as H&C, good taste Griffith.
Higurashi no Nako Koro Ni is very good as well, if disturbing.
Starcraft.
Best RTS ever made so far, not the most technically impressive, or the most challenging, or innovative, but damn is that game solid. Completely replayable, and infinitely entertaining with other players.
Love the Homeworld games too. Wish I could find PC's that would still run the wing commander games.
I don't think the "personal community" on 9 rules adds any value.
I would submit, but my site is a personal blog and I don't really think it can fit a category.
Wow that's pretty blatant.
I'm from Kentucky. I didn't think we were scraping the barrel that low on design people, I know a couple very good design firms there. Maybe this was one of those shoestring budget projects and they just picked up some student somewhere.
I've started doing mini reviews on lesser known bands for just this purpose.
check out: My Music Section, specifically the last two entries where you can have a listen while you read the reviews.
Figgy, what about Vietnam, Korea, Cuban Missile Crisis? That's just a handful of decades.
John, I don't see anyone in this thread blaming "the youth" for any of our country's problems. I do see people ragging on "the youth" for having an opinion without backing it up with anything other than emotion. In fact it's already been discussed to good detail, and we've even conceded that we were speaking generally and not on an individual basis.
I don't see anyone here that's acting close minded, or blind to policies. In fact I don't really see any policy being discussed at all! Maybe we should start some new notes where we actually discuss issues?
"oops"
I think you're correct in that the overlords shouldn't censor the content. Rather it should be an act of the community that the page serves. If people don't like it/don't want it--whatever the "it" of the moment is--around they'll speak up, or leave.
In a real community, the best leaders provide guidance rather than punishment.
Is it a generalization? Yes. Is that wrong? I don't think so, generalizations may be insulting to the minorities within a group, but they exist because they are true to the group as a whole... in a GENERAL sense! Yeah there's tons of exceptions, but they only apply on an individual basis.
It's the same with stereotypes, and profiling. They don't tell you anything about individual people, but they are statistically true to groups of people, so shouldn't be offhandedly brushed aside as "unfair."
No one ever said the truth had to be fair.
We have quite strayed from the topic, but it's been interesting.
That's right along the lines of what I was getting at.
My initial point was saying "fuck bush," however good your reasoning behind the sentiment is, will just get you lumped with kids and imbeciles. You may have an excellent argument against bush but it's completely wasted starting out like that.
I dislike Bush Jr. as a president, but my reasons are not the common ones. I voted for him. Given the same choices again, I'd vote for him again. That doesn't mean I like him, it was just the best available decision I had at the time.
I assume you're not a novice at using the internet. Surely you realize that with a few simple words you can't convey tone or sarcasm. How was anyone supposed to realize it was a joke, especially when that's such a popular phrase among the youth these days?
I thought 9rules was a bit above this?
I've got plenty of disagreement with bush and his administration, but I've had problems with most administrations in the past few decades. I understand venting though! Maybe rethink it and make it actually mean something next time.
Being creative and innovative is great, but imitation is also the sincerest form of flattery. If it's great and works well, why not imitate portions of it? Credit where credit is due, but that doesn't mean we should all quit "ripping" on the wheel.
My site is now a blatant "rip" of this theme, I changed some graphics and colours, and moved some content blocks around.
first hack is up, I need to tweak the CSS a bit still, and redo my archives page, but I believe most everything works.
http://www.makesitgood.net
That looks fantastic. I'm going to take it and modify it a bit (to my colours and plugins)
I'll post back here when done so you can have a looksee. How's it validate XHTML and CSS wise?
The best coffee I have ever had was from an Ethiopian bean. A client brought us back a large freezerbag full and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven't been able to find the like since.
Yes, and it constantly gets in my way, and hurts business and customers.
I don't have any sort of IT degree, though that's a very broad subject. Constantly I find that I know more about fixing computers, maintaining servers, managing networks, etc than whatever consultant or technician a company has doing the job. I often want to go "look, just do this
I think the problem is twofold. One: Universities giving "IT Degrees" that are so generic they can get people hired anywhere, when the actual skills are very specific and not applicable to most positions advertised as IT. Two: Hiring practices of most companies. They'll see a degree and scoop someone up if they interview well, without bothering to see if this person has the specific skills they need, or a broad range of knowledge which would also be usefull. No, they think, this guy has an IT degree, he'll be able to do whatever we need! It never works that way of course.
Canon just announced a new digital rebel that blows the socks off the pro-sumer market.
10.1 MP, 9 Auto focus points, 2.5" LCD, and nicest of all: built in sensor cleaning
I wake up on my own at 6am, usually on the dot. Turn over and sleep till 7 when my alarm goes off. Bed is usually about midnight
Limiting to pc's and servers
1) Apple
2) Sony
3) IBM
I actually like dell servers, but not their consumer lines.
Exactly the same as it is now. Flock is a nice app and all, but I don't see it as any integral part of Web 2.0, even as nebulous a term as that is.
Does anyone have tips or techniques to use in camera retail stores to try and verify a sharp copy of a lens? I realize it's pretty limited what you can examine without some time and attention to detail but I just wanted to see what others did.
The Nikon D50 and Canon 350D are both entry level DSLRS. Yes, they're several steps above any of the point and shoot's available, but they are also a far cry from the "best."
I think the previous poster had it right: it really depends on what you want to do. Do you want to take snapshots? Fine Art? Large Prints? Wildlife? Portraits? Bugs?
To try and come to some semblance of an answer, if you're under $500, the Canon, Sony, and Nikon point and shoot line ups are good for snapshots and vacations.
If money is no object it would be a tossup between the Nikon D2x and the Canon 1Ds mkII. Both top of the line pro level DSLRs. Nikon generally has better ergonomics and interface, while Canon has a larger and more modern pro lens lineup. With either of these choices you're quickly getting into the tens of thosuands of dollars!
Scrapped Princess (epic fantasy/sci-fi)
Kino No Tabi (laid back vignette stylings)
School Rumble (Absolutly ridiculous)
Honey And Clover (semi serious semi hilarious romantic drama)
» Do you consider Opera a worthwhile browser? ... Last Reply: 1 year ago by ionfish.
This got me thinking and I went and dug a bit on my site stats.
I run two servers, with about 40 different sites. Of those I find the following:
MSIE 6.0 - 35%
Firefox - 43%
Safari - 12%
Other - 10%
Digging a bit deeper... across 40 sites, this year, millions of hits, I've had 23 opera hits. Now I know a lot of opera users set their browser to report something else for compatibility issues, but even so that seems rather low.
