» Game is invading real life  ...  Last Reply: 8 months ago by RightOn.

This happens to me more times then I'd like to admit. I remember one time after playing Gran Turismo 3 for an entire weekend I had to run and get some milk. It was winter and as I was coming up to a corner I thought about how I should twist the wheel just right to break the back-end of the car loose and slide around the turn. I had to stop myself and remember how you just can't do those things in real life in the middle of town without some consequences.

All bets were off when I got back to my subdivision. Our station wagon handled those snow-packed curves like a dream ;)

» Should all Lambos have vertical doors?  ...  Last Reply: 9 months ago by momadvice.

Absolutely. Whenever a guy at a car show is discussing the mods he's made to his ride, he doesn't say it's got doors that swing vertically. He says it's got "Lambo doors". Like Mike said, it's part of what makes a Lamborghini a Lamborghini.

» What Movie(s) Made You Cry?  ...  Last Reply: 9 months ago by seopher.

I swear you people are all dead inside :)

I cry at the drop of a hat compared to some posts here (though I never broke down watching Fresh Prince). Since my list would probably consist of a hundred movies, here's the ones that got to me the most.

Amistad - I literally started trembling, and we were in a packed theater. Embarrassing.
Glory - Cried when I watched it in class in high school, for the 3rd time. Embarrassing.
Swing Kids - Anyone else even seen this?
Schindler's List & Life is Beautiful - Same Holocaust. Same crying.
Titanic - Oh come on! When those old people are hugging on the bed! I was depressed for days.
The Notebook - It's like a red badge of courage for men. This one was probably the worst for me.

Thanks all. You've given me a reason to go drink.

Drop Dead Gorgeous

If you haven't seen it, you must. We've watched it so many times that when we recently popped it in we found ourselves quoting every line before it was said. We just turned it off because it was kind of ridiculous. Very, very funny.

» What programming language should I learn?  ...  Last Reply: 10 months ago by timothyandrew.

Scrivs is right. It depends on your goals.

If you're looking to concentrate on developing web sites and web-based applications (and who isn't these days) then something like Ruby or PHP is a good choice. I'd familiarize myself with Javascript and at least one of the major frameworks for JS as well like prototype or jquery.

If your goal is a career working in or for the corporate world, you might take a different angle. Personally, I am a .NET guy. So from my perspective I would recommend C#, which would be a natural fit for your background. In addition, you can use it to build both web-based ASP.NET apps and desktop apps as well. It gives you the flexibility to do a lot of different things which comes handy in a job search.

» If there is a chance, will you marry your best friend?  ...  Last Reply: 8 months ago by mhines54.

Same here! Think about it. You have to live with this person. Every friggin day, there she is. You turn the corner, she's there. After work, you come home, she's there. Next day comes, she's there. She's everywhere.

At the same time, you get to hang out with your best friend every friggin day. Bad day at work? She's there to listen. Have a hard decision to make, she's there to help weigh the options. Feeling down? She's there to remind you of all the reasons she married you. Ran out of toilet paper? Trust me, you'll be glad that person on the other side of the door is your best friend.

» Worst Movie You Ever Saw?  ...  Last Reply: 7 months ago by archangelchuck.

We've watched our share of bad movies. I think From Dusk Til Dawn was the worst movie I've watched in its entirety. I know some would argue with that one since it's a Tarintino flick and all, but it really took a very stupid twist at the end and got really bad really quick.

Dude Where's My Car? was the definitely the worst thing we've ever tried to watch, but barely made it 15 minutes in.

Lil Wayne - Worst Rapper Alive?

Clique — Posted: Dec. 30, 2007  ...   Last By: Mike @ 38 years ago

Can someone please explain the appeal of Lil Wayne? The fact that he ever declared himself the "best rapper alive" simply astonishes me. I find everything he does so bad, I'm astonished anyone puts him on the radio.

Ever since he made an appearance on Destiny Child's "Solider" I've found everything he's put out annoying and his lyrics amateurish. Now I have to listen "Duffle Bag Boy", which is so bad I find it laughable.

Any insight on how he manages any airplay or record sales would be fascinating to me.

» Did anyone notice Amy Clark on the news?  ...  Last Reply: 11 months ago by momadvice.

Well thanks! I hadn't noticed that anyone had posted in the notes about the segment until Tyme pointed it out.

Yup, it was national. They taped it way back in summer and its been rescheduled a bunch of times. I didn't say anything this time because I figured some national crisis would occur and I'd get bumped again. I think it turned out rather well, so I'm definitely happy! Oh, and the kids were really excited to see themselves on TV.

Thanks again for posting about it!

» Greatest Client Quote. Ever.  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Vidar.

These are great! My favorite was an email I got from a client one time saying how the site looked different on his laptop than it did on his desktop. I tried hard to explain the obvious reasons, but he insisted there must be something I can do to fix it.

He came into the office later on with his laptop, opened the site, and said "see how it's darker?". There were so many things I wanted to say at that moment, but when I noticed his laptop was opened at a 90 degree angle I said "crouch down and it'll look brighter". He did, then stood up, then sat back down.

"Oh"

Soul Calibur. Hands down. It was the only reason I bought a Dreamcast making it one very expensive game at the time. My wife and I played the crap out of it though and it was well worth it.

As a few people have mentioned, 30 Rock, however I'd say Friday Night Lights is hands down my pick. The characters, story and acting are incredible! Even the way it is filmed adds to its appeal. I highly recommend when the season starts up again that you at least TiVo the first few episodes and give it a try, even if you don't like football.

Yeah, Ryan was all about Britney until she was showing her hooha all over town. She used to be such a classy lady too (snort).

As for Jennifer, it is too bad that she can't act her way out of a paper bag, but she is very pretty. I guess that is all that matters.

Amy (who finds Jennifer so-so & Brad so yum)

» Blogrolls  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by EmergenceMedia.

I don't usually check out blogrolls, but I personally hate it when people have fifty thousand listed because I then don't even want to look at even one of them.

I am thinking of having a top five for the year though. The blogs that I frequently read would go on that and then next year, I could just do five new ones (unless I stuck with the same people).

I am probably going to do a list on the first of January.

» What do you think about polls on blogs?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Oli.

I tried polls for awhile and would discuss the results at the end of the week. To be honest, I had trouble thinking of polls to come up with and then I had trouble figuring out how to discuss them creatively.

If you can do it and think it would be beneficial, that is great! I think it completely depends on your audience and the type of blog you are running.

Good luck on making your decision!!

Justin Timberlake or Brad Pitt. I am afraid that Justin would want to talk about himself afterwards though and that would be pretty boring. Brad and I, on the otherhand, could talk about all of the children we could adopt or how we would change the world in a positive way....now, that would be HOT!
