You know their luck and what always happens.

Yeah, but I'm sick of it. And it goes in cycles here, I think this new round of youth is gonna kick some butt. Fabregas, Torres, Xabi Alonso, Joaquin, Villa... Looking much better to me then many of the others...

A huge UI oversite that I hoped would have been fixed with this version:

After posting a comment, you are simply dumped to the top of the post. Since we do not have a comment preview, it would be nice to be brought directly to our comment after posting or editing it. Tis a real PITA on longer threads, where you may have to click to the last page and then scroll down a bunch to get to your comment...

Nice catch :-)

Now yoga, there's a habit I wish I had been doing from a younger age...

I'll do like carmodyarc, sets of 50 up to even 500 a day. But in one shot? Most I've done is 117...

I can run a 26.2 mile marathon, straight through. How many of you have done that (besides estarla)?

Pfft. After 4K swim and a 160K on the bike?

» Member exodus?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Griffith.

Moving the clubhouse to a clique was a difficult decision, I would assume. Moving it all to notes would make contributing to the community a seamless affair, and this is a good thing. I really wonder why it was necessary though, if there is no quota. In the end it's hidden from public view; same difference, in effect.

I can see how having the two zones would have been tough for members who are heavy notes users; the triad, for example, were quiet in recent months back in the clubhouse but more vocal in notes. Some of the members who left have been loud in the clubhouse, not so in notes.

I for one welcome our new... Umm. I mean... I for one will prolly use notes more because now I have to be out here.

In any case, some people who are (were?) the market for 9rules have spoken by packing their sites up and leaving. Executive decision has caused a loss of members, but hopefully this adjustment will be great for 9r as it grows into the future...

» If you could relocate, where would you move?  ...  Last Reply: 8 months ago by Jia.

The last few years in Europe have been great for traveling and seeing some new culture and ways of living (everything here is close together and airfare is cheap), but I would be into moving back to Vancouver (either the Kits-Point Grey area or North Vancouver).

It's beautiful, there are three ski hills 10-30 minutes from town (not to mention Whistler 2 hours away) and it's just a great laid back place to live with great opportunity for work, relax and play. The downside is the lack of culture, and traveling from North America, even from a hub like Vancouver, is a pain in the YKW.

Blogliliy, I think you could train the pony to walk the dog. Maybe you could train each to feed the other. Hmm.. Maybe the pony could burp our newborn eating-pooing-noise machine...

Yafoo, bring on the Ali2. Finally we're getting those damn ponies. Been here since round one waiting for some ponies....

Nice. A holiday here in Spain, which means I'll be working able to play with all the new features.

» Buying a new digital camera... Any tips?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by MikeP_.

For the record, we bought the Fujifilm Finepix F31fd.

Awesome camera. The low light capabilities are excellent. Being able to take a picture of our newborn in the recovery area, where cameras are prohibited here, was priceless. All due to not having to use the flash... So far, loving it.

Thanks everyone, for your help. No way I would have bought this unassuming little camera without it.

» Creatin dosage ...  ...  Last Reply: 10 months ago by RightOn.

I've used the liquid stuff (= no loading) for extended periods both in the gym and during cycling crits. Never had any issues with cramps and whatnot and just followed the instructions on the bottle. This was a while back, maybe 6-7 years ago, so ymmv.

I'm not sure this is going to help you get back up to speed in the gym though. Creatine just converts itself to ATP on the cellular level when needed, giving you more energy at the end of an intense set of reps: i.e. you may get 10 reps off rather then 8. Also, from what I recall, the stuff was thought to be tough on your liver, so pay attention when you are using it. Again, this was quite awhile ago so maybe knowledge has changed since then.

Sorry you couldn't find the right one for you.

Oh, we're still looking! We found one place that has the Fujifilm Finepix F31fd, so we'll see this week :-)

» Buying a new digital camera... Any tips?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by MikeP_.

After some review, we went out to buy the Fujifilm Finepix F31fd, which, although a bit old and kinda fugly, seems to take the best pix. Nobody has it in stock.. So we're still digging thru dpreview.

The two Panasonics were in stock, and we actually brought an LX2 home with us, but I'm not even going to open it as the review mentions (I somehow missed this the first time) that its response time is slow.

I'm thinking about the G9 now, but need to find some reviews. DPreviews images from each camera are really helpful. It's quite astonishing how much better the quality is from the 6 megapixel Fujifilm Finepix F31fd over the 10-12 megapixel competitors...

shutter lag

Great advice, my last camera, which was a low end Canon, had some serious lag and that was frustrating...

Hi all, thanks a lot for the feedback. I'm into a point and shoot, I think. Price range probably somewhere below 500US...

Thanks a lot for all of those links Andrew. We'll definitely give that site a good reading before heading out tomorrow.

Buying a new digital camera... Any tips?

Photography Community — Posted: Sep. 14, 2007  ...   Last By: MikeP_ @ 1 year ago

Hey all, my wife and are expecting in the next month, and looking to buy a new digital camera...

Our awesome plan is to head into the local mega-electronics-mart tomorrow and to buy one. As they don't have a website with products, we have no idea what is on offer. As we are impatient and they don't open Sunday, we're buying tomorrow without any previous research of their stock.

So, with all that in mind, what should I look for in a DC other then mega-pixels and optical zoom, or, what do I need to know to pick the best camera given a pile of cameras and a bunch of pushy Saturday shoppers?

It depends on what I'm doing... it's usually blazing fast unless I have a LOT of media rich content up and then it just drags ass.

That's the biggest issue for me. If a Youtube video or even a simple flash animation is running, I notice the hit. Kind of crappy when you are actually working on a site that has any of these components!

Hey WebMajor, I'm on 2.0.0.6. I just checked for an update with its built in checker and it said "No Updates!".

» web content = money  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Pavlusha.

Great question. I suppose this will depend on which end you look at it from, that is, getting it written and then how much it converts for you.

Most people will prolly look just at ROI/traffic/conversions, I suppose.

The hidden cost here is the cost of replacement. If you have some person in the UK writing/researching at 30 pounds an hour, the cost is high (but hopefully so is the quality). If you happen to have an ace writer/researcher who charges a lower rate, the cost of replacement is low.

This doesn't really help much I guess, but from my experience there is no hard and fast rule because it can vary so much. If you have content written by an expert or enthusiast in their field (say, a theatre blog :) this could be of a higher quality then if a normal copywriter. But then what kind of revenue does the content generate...

Man, tough question :-)

Good thinking, I'm going to drop some of the extra fluff that I no longer use...

Done. Nice, great results. Not sure about the boggin' down issue, but it startsup a helluva lot faster and sems to be a bit more responsive...

Firefox really bogs down my machine - Is it just me?

Software Community — Posted: Sep. 13, 2007  ...   Last By: dustinbrewer @ 1 year ago

Yeah, so lately FF gets really bogged down on my computer.

It's to the point that I'm braking out IE6 (gasp - yeah, too lazy to update my machine) for some websites (like ESPN FF).

I'm guessing this is due to memory leaks, is there any fix that some of you know of? My wife is already talking about moving to IE7 fulltime, and so have some other formerly die hard FF users that I know...

I'm going with Spain, for the speed, the youth, and their newfound goalscoring prowess :-)

Man, I bet on the next iteration this thing will get a new name: PDA. Then maaaybe I'll have a reason to ditch my Axim. Well, maybe if it has video out.

I guess I'm one of the few who thinks this thing and the excitment around it (see above) is evidence of how great Apple is at marketing.

The visuals here are excellent. I like a clean saw and one that is light enough to use over my head while standing on a ladder. Sometimes, when there's nothing else around, this is the only alternative.
