Gotta go bbPress even though it's not really a plugin... it's what runs all of 9rules Notes :)

Shri, great explanation!

» Religious fallout  ...  Last Reply: 2 years ago by seanthony.

Nah not at all my man. Our Religion Community has been steadily *growing* actually. Shawn left because he wanted to start his own thing and had some issues with 9rules, no biggie. Yup, few months late to the party ;)

Derek, holy crap, I do that!!! I make the background transparent and then have the people's names transparently match the desktop background image. Damn, I guess I am a geek lol.

» Web 2.0 in your own words.  ...  Last Reply: 2 years ago by karmatosed.

So my big theory is that Web 2.0 is just the technological boom started by people who were too young to join in on the Web 1.0 dotcom fun in the late 90s. People like myself (in early 20s) were still in middle school and high school in the mid-to-late 1990s so we couldn't participate, and now that we're out of college we're ready to start our own companies and "get things right" after watching what everybody was doing wrong.

Straight gangsta rap.

An interesting footnote is that Charles and Ray Eames produced this movie, the same duo that designed one of the most famous lounge chairs around, found in modern homes and offices everywhere.

Best Educational Movie Ever: Powers Of Ten

Science Community — Posted: Jul. 31, 2006  ...   Last By: fathomtheunknown @ 1 year ago

Dan Grossman links up my favorite educational movie, "Powers Of Ten", which is a fantastic look at the universe and the scales of our own world. Definitely a must-see if you've never seen it before. Read more at Wikipedia since I'm obviously not a scientist or film historian.

I refused to read Ars Technica for the longest time after their redesign until they added in the black-on-white style switcher. Reading white serif text on a black background makes my eyes go bonky.

Not all that recent, taken about a year ago, but it's the only one I've got uploaded:

Man that's dedication. I think the longest I've gone is like 2-3 days, but that's nothing compared to your month-long pizza streak. I know that Scrivs orders Papa Johns pizza online constantly so maybe his streak is more impressive.

Oh and the Tony Touch mixtape I picked up in Albany before he blew up in NYC, that was my crew's theme for the entire year.

One of the songs that really brings me back to senior year of high school is "Platinum Plus" by Big L (R.I.P.). Go cop it.

What songs bring you back? Where do they bring you back to?

Definitely Tiger Woods. Not just for his golf abilities but because he seems so real and down to earth. He walked right directly next to me once while I was at a PGA Tour event and I almost died....... yes I am a little school girl.

» Technorati Redesigned  ...  Last Reply: 2 years ago by karmatosed.

I think it just looks totally random. Randomly colored blocks and shapes everywhere, smaller text than the previous version, too much whitespace where there doesn't need to be a lot, poorly integrated banner ad, tiny top navigation..... it all seems so hustled and thrown together.

» Apple vs. Dell LCDs  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by GlennWolsey.

Thanks guys! For the record I think I'd just spring for ONE 30" display because the vertical resolution would far surpass my current vert, and that's the real thing I'm looking for.

Thanks for the feedback!!!!!

Apple vs. Dell LCDs

Apple Community — Posted: Jul. 23, 2006  ...   Last By: GlennWolsey @ 1 year ago

The time will be coming soon for me to spend ungodly amounts of money on new displays (since my dual 21" Dell LCDs just aren't big enough anymore) and I'm wondering if there are any real differences between the 30" Apple Cinemas and the new Dell 30" LCD? The Dell one is a few hundred dollars cheaper, but as far as specs are concerned I think that's the only difference.

Anybody have experience with both?

» Call for a Text Editor  ...  Last Reply: 2 years ago by cdevroe.

Yup, I'm a TextMate guy as well.

» Notes plugin?  ...  Last Reply: 2 years ago by chris.

Hey guys, there's actually nothing too proprietary about it. 9rules Notes runs on a highly customized version of bbPress, a forum application that is closely tied to Wordpress and WP development. We rewrote the template engine in order to spit out XHTML that integrated into our new look and feel, but the software itself is pretty easy to install.

» Mr. & Mrs. Blogger  ...  Last Reply: 2 years ago by bluebloggin16.

Lol, well my fiancée knows about my blogs, probably because they're integrated into my day-to-day activities and profession. She reads all my stuff and goes to Technorati to find out what other people are writing about me too lol.

» Improvements to Notes  ...  Last Reply: 2 years ago by destructar.

Hey Lindsay, a lot of profile and post editing functions are coming soon. Pablo, we'll be implementing RSS feeds for individual Communities, individual Notes sections, and lots more, so hopefully that'll help you out.

Yeah no kidding, we'd love to have a product design blog join 9rules, so if you know of any pass them along!!

» The Broken Favicons  ...  Last Reply: 2 years ago by mfusco.

Yeah I used the _underscore IE6 CSS hack to basically make all favicon images invisible. We'll be turning this back on in the future once we get a system in place that automatically converts ICO -> GIF so IE6 doesn't choke.

» 37signals takes VC funding  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by auburn.

They've gotta be expanding into new markets. Bezos has knowledge with supply chain management, warehouses, manufacturing, and that kinda stuff — basically everything that 37s currently can't do. They must be adding new products/services to their repertoir and I'm not so sure they're web-based.
