Next week is Rush here at Chico State, and part of me really really wants to rush, because I've always not-so-secretly wanted to belong to a sorority for my entire life.
But I've come to grips with the fact that I am not cut out to be a sorority girl. I'm too bookish, anti-social, and geeky to really make the effort needed.
However, I'm all down for honor societys (it goes with my need to feel smart).
This friday, I'll pledge to join Sigma Tau Delta, better known as the International English Honor Society. Turns out, there are greek groups for me!
However, after our first meeting tonight, my roommate and I are convinced that our chapter isn't quite...active. There's hardly anything planned on the calendar, and there's no budget to do anything.
So, I'm asking for help: we need to think up fundrasiers so that next semester we can do something really fun.
If you're in a college club/frat/sorority, what do you guys do to raise the dough? Oh, and what do you do for fun?

One of the few "rock my world" moments was, ironically, at a rock concert. I traveled nearly the full length of California to see a favorite band in concert, and standing under a the stars, alone a crowd of more than a thousand, and everyone singing my favorite song. It was a moment that connected me to everyone, that feeling that "omg, everyone else feels like I do."
The other one was the graduation ceremony for my AA. Not just because it took me seven years to get a two year degree, but because it marked another ending and beginning, since I was transfering to a four year college for my BA, and that was a dream I never ever thought would be possible.
