Incase always has amazing-looking cases.
Good start, but I'd suggest enlarging and animating the cat picture so that there can be more cat pictures.
can some1 tell me where I can download upgrade plz? k thx.
http://w3schools.com/ and most any blog in the 9rules design/programming communities.
The "purchased" playlist in iTunes says 103 items. Some of those are videos or tv shows, though.
Don't do it for a permanent link--what happens if you delete or move the post? That and it's just an awful deal for you. $35 for a lifetime advertisement?
Depends on the site and ad. Does it fit with the site? Will it annoy regulars?
$35 for one post? If that's just for a month, I'd say that's definitely a good deal.
I don't usually have to worry about it too much, since I learned to write code that validates and now just do it through habit. I usually still run my xhtml through it though, especially if I have weird errors or have a lot of nested lists or something that I'm having trouble keeping track of.
I wrote this like a year and a half ago and so some of the formatting is a little off, but I think the content still applies: Standards and validation, what are they good for?
A lot of Christians seem to think that they need a "Christian version" of everything--be it music (Christian rock or rap), movies, books (Christian fiction), and now their own versions of MySpace and YouTube. Many of these are just copycats and other Christians buy into them because it has the label on it, not realizing that the quality is often much lower as there's less competition.
I'm really not sure how the whole "go out into the world" thing is supposed to work when you keep making your own.
And I can say this, being a Christian myself. :)
Actually, I'd say their horizontal navigation on their product pages was fairly daring--normally that's a big no-no. I believe they managed to pull it off, though.
I'd say if you post on 9rules notes, you're probably a junky.
EDIT: not saying that's a bad thing, of course. ;)
That's hilarious. I knew they'd been blocking "internet" and didn't understand that one, but this is crazy-awesome.
We can only assume that MySpace is really, really fed up of all the iPhone coverage. Sorry, we mean the ..phone.
Haha, I was going to say the same thing.
This post has been brought to you by the letter ".."!
I have yet to buy myself a mac (I'm thinking it's about time for a macbook...), but spaces does look quite nice.
I have notifications on, and it checks itself every 60 seconds...so, somewhere around 960 times.
Can't you just make a new account? Or did they do an IP ban?
It seems to just be using one of Phu's themes...
@elliothere: He mentions at the end that he has another one, so this one was just to kill for all the youtube people who wanted to see an iPhone get turned into a smoothie :)
Yeah, I know...but I would've rather had a free iphone than got to watch that movie...
Like peroty said, it's still a phone. Had Safari 3 come out without :hover, then there would've been cause to worry...But it's a phone, and unless you're designing something specifically meant for mobile users, it's probably not a huge deal.
Might be something to consider if your site is completely unusable without it, though. Otherwise there's always the option of making iPhone-only versions.
Love the slow motion. But if he didn't want the phone, he could've just sent it to me...
As I read through this thread, I think that some of atheistperspective's arguments on the morals in books such as Deuteronomy are forgetting the historical context of them.
At this point, the Israelites had been in slavery in Egypt for a very long time. As such, they had no laws, and they didn't really know how to run as their own nation.
The laws were given to them to help them survive in a desert for the first time on their own. For example, not eating certain types of meat--while that doesn't make much sense now, at that time the Israelites wouldn't have known how to make sure that it's safe to eat. Best just not to mess with it.
When discussing seemingly bizarre passages, you have to make careful consideration of the historical context, where this was taking place, who is saying it, to whom it was being said, the customs of the time, etc. Otherwise you can completely miss the point.
And to answer the first question of whether all Christians are fundamentalists, one first would have to decide how "fundamentalist" is being defined. It seems to me that nobody has agreed on even that yet.
Wow that's awesome.
Jeremy Cowart all the way.
Jerry Seinfeld, Jim Gaffigan, Demetri Martin, George Carlin, Brian Regan, and every once in a while Dane Cook hits a good one.
That does sound pretty awesome...
U2 - Beautiful Day
Queen & David Bowie - Under Pressure
Linkin Park - What I've Done (the new single...that intro is just perfect for driving)
Maroon 5 - Makes Me Wonder
I don't think it's necessarily going to be as important for sizing reasons, but to really take advantage of the mobile web people are going to have to think about what somebody viewing their site on a cellphone is actually looking for.
Jeff Croft's got a good article on contextual relevance in the mobile web.
1 ever couple months.
Though, I don't usually review services and usually focus more on the development end of the web, which is probably why.
They definitely stuffed too much in there and the whole sandman thing really had nothing to do with the rest of the movie until the very end, where they sort of tried to tie it in. I probably would've cut out sandman to allow the focus to be only on what affects the characters I actually care about (i.e., the ones I got to know in the first 2 films). Or if they had to keep him in, at least develop his character more and show me in the beginning what he has to do with the characters I came to see.
However, it was definitely an awesome movie and perhaps one of the most enjoyable of the 3.
What I do is have a category called "snippits" (yes, with an i...) that I post all my asides in, which I have appear in a list below my latest "real" post.
You can then create a loop showing only your asides category, and to show all posts except your asides (in WordPress), do something like this:
where 17 is the ID of my "snippits" category.`
YouWorkForThem has great stock vector work.
First decide how much your time, skills, and portfolio is worth (and be honest) in order to get yourself a fair rate. Try to judge how much time the project will take you, and remember it's always going to take longer than you think.
This sounds like a project that's going to be very difficult to guess like that, so one way might even be to charge each section separately.
Oh, and one thing I've learned: either charge for all revisions or include a single round of corrections to the offer, if you're offering a total sum.
Make sure you do this, and have it in writing. If you're quoting a set price to them, make sure you have specified what constitutes a revision and how many they get, with any extra ones charged to your hourly rate.
One of the main things we didn't want to do with my.9rules is lock people down into another service that wants you to create a photo album (that you have elsewhere), a blog (that you have elsewhere), videos (that you have elsewhere), and that stuff. I think our target was "savvy" people that already have their content elsewhere and are content with that, they just want better access to it.
MySpace took years to get to where they are now, to build their audience, and if Virb is going to succeed then it'll take years for them as well, if it happens. I don't see a lot of unique features that are only at Virb, apart from their CSS-enabled profile editing, which hits a fairly small niche. Of course they're not launched yet so things will definitely get changed and added, so we'll see how they fare once they're public.
Actually, Virb's doing the same thing--they're working on the ability to show your flickr stuff on your profile, as well as your blog posts. I believe they already allow you to post YouTube videos, as well.
I've used moo.fx a little bit, haven't tried mootools yet though...it does look pretty impressive.
What's your favorite JavaScript library (or do you not use them), and why? Or do you use different ones depending on the project?
I usually use prototype with some extensions (such as script.aculo.us's effects.js), just because I'm most comfortable with it, though I have used others as well.

I watch most of my movies on my computer, either on my laptop or my 20" widescreen. I usually multitask while watching movies, so that's mainly why.
