Coda - Text Editor/FTP Program
Transmit - FTP, really good
Adium
Flip4mac
iEatBrainz - Labelling the ITunes I listen to whilst coding
Handbrake - For ripping DVD
opensIFR - Used to create the .swf for the flash text replacement easily
MAMP - Get the widget too!

Also, if you trade stocks, the yahoo stocks widget makes life much easier, just press the scroll wheel to check your stocks - awesome.

TagTicket.com

What kind of mac are you getting? Dont buy apple memory with your mac either, its cheaper to buy from crucial.

domainstate.com is where I sold a domain name I had.

Hope that helps. I wouldnt wager the domain is worth loads due to the two x's and its slightly convoluted nature. Its not going to garner an income from ads?

You could host it on sedo to check though. sedo also lists domains for sale, so do a price comparison :)

Hi Trevor, well its a nice design, but its also a bit "busy", if you perhaps offer fewer, more clearly signposted things to do, you can perhaps encourage people to post more?

You have so many links and things to do on the homepage, perhaps if you try and split those down into sections a bit, but then make a bigger play of the community on the homepage?

One last suggestion; why not allow anonymous comments to start off with, so that people who just want to say a few words can do that, then as people reply and threads build up - they would be more likely to post?

A good example of what I suggest may be an unnecessary distraction is links like this: http://www.homegrownmusic.net/tracker, with the current activity it doesnt look great. One last suggestion? Have just one area for comments to start, rather than spreading so few so far? If you keep them together, people might feel its more likely to get a reply.

I launched an application today, my advertising budget is modest, I decided that things like a Blog would just be best left until I (hopefully) build a large enough critical mass to foster decent discussions and feedback via the site. But as yet, its unknown. Take a look if you like TagTicket.com.

I switched to mac in January, so I mainly use Safari, but I found its web developer tools somewhat lacking compared to Firefox (colour picker, ruler, web dev toolbar, syntax highlighter) so I installed Firefox too.

However, I switched to Firefox 3 beta recently and althought its faster (I dont like its new design though) - not all of these extensions work.

A big tip for mac users though for website testing;

Get Crossover for mac, and install IE6, I did that to test the rendering of my design for TagTicket.com and it works brilliantly.

I just launched TagTicket and I must admit it probably wouldn't have been possible without the excellent technical support from Rackspace. They do charge a lot, but if you have high demands and need their expertise its a bargain.

I tried out Media Temple, primarily due to the recommendations of bloggers on 9rules, and whilst I found them friendly - their technical knowledge and what they could allow me to do to a dedicated server was short of my expectations. They did call me (Scotland) from America to help solve an issue though, which did impress me.
