I agree with Lelia's comment. It reminds me of when everyone starting to realize Man vs Wild was staged and not as much about 'survival' as originally expected. I thought to myself a) did you really think it was? and b) I think the point is to be entertaining!

To echo Scrivs, don't hate the player--hate the game.

meme: Richard Dawkins’s 1976 coinage, on the analogy to gene (with a little aid from mime and mimic), for a cultural copying unit, such as the word or melody that is mimicked by others.

» BlackBerry Pearl vs. BlackBerry Curve  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by chatterbox.

Speed of typing? I think I type faster on the pearl... less keys to move around to once you memorize the layout. For example 'Re' for 'Reams' is the same key pressed twice... pretty quick!

The Pearl fits so wonderfully in my pocket... perfect size, great phone. My favorite by far.

» Did you buy World Series tickets?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Devin.

I'm just upset about the process that the team used (only sold online). So anyone out there in the world could buy them and sell the back at top dollar.

So, to answer the question, no, I won't buy tickets.

I would've preferred the Indians... oh well...

Did you buy World Series tickets?

Sports Community — Posted: Oct. 23, 2007  ...   Last By: Devin @ 1 year ago

I doubt many did, but the Colorado Rockies here are playing so I definitely tried...

...but the ticket seller sucked. I'm so mad. If you know anything about the internet you could tell they were unprepared for the World Series but lied all about it.

So did anyone else try? Have any luck?

» Thread Necromancy  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Devin.

I'm kinda glad they're out there. Its funny I'd find an old note and want to respond.. then scroll down realizing I did a few months ago.

But having 'favorite instant messenger' come up in search results is great because it helped me download a new Windows client today.

Does anyone read the news on their phone? I just got into the habit of checking it while idle (waiting for my computer to start up, waiting in the elevator, etc.) I feel like this quick-bite news could become a big deal...

» How to find "gigs" ?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Devin.

@alisa: Truth be told there are people who want to build niche blogs, put ads on them, make some money, then flip them for profit. They just need people who can write about those topics...

And sure, there are companies that need people who can write simply to keep content fresh and people coming back.

So, there are definitely some options out there. :)

» The News  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Devin.

I sit down with the WSJ every morning (or try to at least). I don't read every article but I do skim, catch the headlines and pick one or two to read.

I find out the rest of my news just from talking to people...

» How to find "gigs" ?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Devin.

Well this is an interesting way to "get out there." Obviously most people stick to their own blogs but you could always approach bloggers and group blogs that you admire, show them you work and see what they say.

My friend Jim runs a site called Bloggers For Hire. I'm sure he could find some blogs for you to work on.

My biggest one has been limiting my commute by moving closer to work (I'm required to drive so no, I can't take the bus).

I save money on gas maintenance, and personal time (time I could be making more money, right?).

What are your daily priorities?

Productivity Community — Posted: Oct. 15, 2007  ...   Last By: Sara @ 1 year ago

Given there are more and more things to do these days nobody seems to have time. We're all super busy, right?

So how do you make sure you accomplish the things you really want to do every day without getting sidetracked?

I just blogged about picking five daily priorities that I have to do every day:

  • Have a morning routine
  • Read a book for at least half an hour
  • Contact at least 3 friends each day
  • Enjoy 30 minutes of silence
  • Play on the web for 30 minutes

What would your five be? Do you do anything to make sure you're "on track" with what you really want to be spending your time on?

Sapphire and tonic has become a new favorite.

Throttle number of member entires post

This morning 'Ads of the World' has like 12 of the top 14 recently posted entries. Can we limit the entries page to show unique members content perhaps?

» Definiteness of Purpose  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Devin.

I haven't started one yet but it'd be for the reasons already mentioned:

  • Make a living for me and a family
  • Support the hobbies I enjoy (ski, golf, etc.)
  • I think I'm better as the boss
  • When I pick the work I do I make sure I enjoy it
  • Helping others is something I enjoy, I could serve as a mentor first, employer second

Good question, the better one is to the people who have: are you still doing it for the same reason(s)?

@jensized: We'll be sure to have pictures.

@JoeLencioni: I'm thinking just a simple 'HELLO My Name Is..' tag will suit. If they don't get it then, well, I don't care. ;)

@vickysecret: Jessica Rabbit... nice, I've yet to see that.

@bloglily: Some people did a Facebook group at CU last year called 'Waldo on the Hill'. There were dozens of waldos all over campus and Boulder, it was hilarious.

..until the 238th time someone said "I found him!"

If I'm browsing /notes/ and select 'go to personal community' I would like to show up at the personal/notes/ page.

If I want to go to the community home I figure I can get to that from the links in the footer.
