My huge players didn't show up, a la Tom Brady, Adrian Peterson, MJD, Welker, etc...

If you want to see those guys living up to potential check out week 6. 160 points without Jennings showing up ;)

Anyway, if anyone's interested we good do a Grid Iron Playoff Challenge. http://games.espn.go.com/nflpc/frontpage

I blew the playoffs pretty efficiently, and was the dominatee of of Scrivs in the Consolation match.

Scrivs only got into the playoffs because I beat Mike in the last match of the season :P

It was still a lot of fun and definitely had me watching every weekend. Grats Matt.

I'm calling undefeated next year. Just sayin' ;)

(I probably just whammy'd it)

I made so many stupid decisions early in the season. I had Watson and Winslow for TE, and now I have nothing worth anything. Live and learn :\

» 9rules Fantasy Football League I  ...  Last Reply: 11 months ago by ConnorWilson.

Ah great, I ruin my 7 game win streak with some bad decisions. Oh well, still first overall over after that. Unlike the Colts, I'll actually bounce back ;)

» Will the Pats Go Undefeated?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Scrivs.

I think the Rams and the Dolphins could go 0-16. I'd be surprised if the Pats didn't go 16-0, but I'm thinking Pittsburgh will beat Indy in the AFC championship.

» NFL Week 9 Showdown  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by jark.

Wow, at least Brady came alive a little in the last 10 minutes or so. I had Drew Brees sitting on the bench for fantasy, which turned out to be a bad move. Luckily Adrian Peterson showed LT who's on top.

I thought the Vikings/Chargers game was better. 109 yard return on a missed field goal, 3 AP touchdowns and the Vikings finally get some confidence.

» My Site Got Ripped :(  ...  Last Reply: 9 months ago by PRDesign.

That happened to me recently. Some guy did exactly the same thing, I noticed (he didn't remove the links) and sent him an email, telling him I know what he's doing and I don't like it, etc... He ignored the email and slowly modified it into a new site. Same structure, same HTML and CSS base, just different look.

» NFL Week 9 Showdown  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by jark.

This is going to be the offensive shootout of the year. Two huge quarterbacks with great targets = high scoring. Also, New England = high scoring.

The defenses are respectively very good, but that won't change the fact they'll be over powered. Indy's defense will be at least ;)

"Ditka 173"

I tried, and searched, but I don't get it. Should I? The 173 thing doesn't seem to fit for me.

» NFL Week 9 Showdown  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by jark.

About the Patriots making big plays while up on huge points: They have a huge chip on their shoulder since that Jets cheating thing and Belichick is a great coach the way he pushes harder each week, regardless of matchup. Indianapolis? Train harder. Miami? Train harder.

You can say Manning might be better than Brady, just not having the recievers, but then again, what if NE had the RBs? That's the one gap in their offense right now.

I'm biased because Brady (and Welker) have led me to first place in the 9R Fantasy Football pool, but the two teams are incomparable. Both undefeated, but NE is undefeated.

Oh, and Manning threw less than 50% against Carolina. And left due to (a very dirty and unacceptable play) injury.

NE 48, IND 24 ;)

I may be biased as a WP user, but the community really makes an open source project what it is, and the WP community is unbelievable.

I guess I'd be obliged to say Cutline seeing as I have hacked the hell out of to base multiple sites off (including client sites), but there are some really nice magazine style grid themes that I like.

» iPod Touch 8gb vs iPod Nano 8gb  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Ivy.

The problem I'm having is the 8GB thing. I can't afford to shell out for the 16GB at the moment, so this makes the Classic look good. I only have 6.5GB of music with a heavily restrained iTunes library, but I'd definitely add podcasts and stuff to it.

In other news, I think they modified the iPod headphones. They're much better now (sounding). They actually have bass!

» iPod Touch 8gb vs iPod Nano 8gb  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Ivy.

I was originally going to get a Touch, but then after my aforementioned friend bought the Nano, I was sort of leaning towards that. You can't run with a Touch, or at least I wouldn't feel comfortable for some reason.

I'm thinking more along the lines of the 80Gb Classic, but there's always room to crumble and go for the Touch :P

@Scrivs: As far as I can tell, that's the only topic page with a big fancy header and a background pertaining to the topic, rather than the 9r green. It would be cool if the rest were like that, but I don't know what's up with only WoW having that style.

» Ali2 Launches...  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Cas.

Is the header of the WoW Topic page any hint to what those will start to look like?

» iPod Touch 8gb vs iPod Nano 8gb  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Ivy.

Just thought I'd put in that my friend bought the black 8GB Nano, and they are absolutely beautiful. They look kind of ugly in photos and stuff, but it is truly a pretty piece of equipment.

I love Nutella, but never have it. The best thing besides just eating it out of the jar is mixing it in with cookie dough for hazel nutty chocolate cookies.

» Obsessive about WordPress Themes  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Cappuccino.

I do all my own WordPress stuff, so I guess there's always a certain degree of satisfaction. But as a designer, I'm never 100% happy with the work I do for myself, for some reason. I find a balance, of what I like, readers like, and functionality.

Yeah, it's definitely weak. Inman should be due right about... a few minutes ago.

You're right, no one would keep blogging if no one read. As much as you can try to say you would, you'll give up a lot faster.

I look back at when I restarted from scratch in January and was trying it out, but seeing that "6 readers" button is awesome. Still having a reasonably small readerbase (~125), it's still awesome to write for someone to read it. That's definitely why I keep going.

All the passion in the world can be over shadowed by the fact no one is reading. Perseverance is hard :P

» Should Police Officers Blog??  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by philosophicalcop.

If you write a blog, nothing will happen. There's much more to blogging than writing posts. You need to be discoverable, visible to search engines, promoting and all that stuff while still writing.

You're doing a good thing becoming active in a community of blog-literate people, but you might want to link your site up so we really know how far you are along.

I loved how James, the huge grave digger guy (that guy is huge!), beat the professional scaler in the scaling part of the challenge. He did the unlocking in one motion, where's the other guy didn't keep up with him.

I think the gyaymormonflightattendant could go far too.

» Throwing Money on Second Life  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Vidar.

Second Life is a internet ignorant marketer's dream. Toyota and other companies have them. Taking some sort of ad in Second Life, whatever it may be, do or offer, is like taking a banner ad on Digg.

No matter what, it's still an ad, and you're aiming at a demographic that is not only likely under the age they want, but I don't see them having great money skills.

Then again, I'm baised because the whole idea of Second Life pisses me off. Same with every MMO and related game. Ugh... bad memories.

» Halo 3 Marketing Campaign & Teasers  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by hthth.

Those ads are really great. The typical gameplay, pow pow, look at the graphics ads don't do anything for me. Now, on the other hand I don't and will never own an Xbox 360, but still these ads make me curious.

If I was developing an epic game like this, I'd just hire some prog band to write the story. If it can work for an 80 minute song, it'd be awesome as a video game.

Because the diner is itching to turn over a table every hour, and they weren't ready to leave, that makes them disorderly?

» What would you do with 5000 comments in a day?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by DavidBB.

At what point do you just not comment? He won't read your comment, no one will ever see it and it will get lost in a sea. After a couple hundred it's pointless, but 5000?

I read every comment I get, and I have WordPress send me an email every time. It's cool to come home to a bunch of comment emails (mixed in with spam). Definitely helps cope with exhaustion and the will to sleep for 5 days straight.

» Homework  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by auburn.

I agree with what Toni said. One problem I have with homework (especially a class like Accounting) is that it seems under me. If I've already mastered a technique or method, why should I drill it because others haven't? I've always excelled at Math/Science stuff, but I never really show that when the final mark comes in. Not doing HW has instilled bad study habits I guess.

The ironic part is, I was going to just shut up and do it this year, but I got an easy semester. I guess it's bad habits ahead until I get a really hard one come February :\

The work Nick La did for his own site (NDesign) and Web Designer Wall, while just flat out cool looking, it's deeper than that. To me, talking about over the top, aesthetic busting designs, I want to be able to stare at it for a couple minutes and keep noticing new, cool things. It's like the cover of Elton John's Captain Fantastic. Imagery = good. Bonus points for mixing in cool references.

» Homework  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by auburn.

I don't like it and I stop doing it after a couple weeks. Need to avoid that... But I had a Chemistry teacher explain it pretty well. Chem is a very cumulative, and his philosophy was that the second you walk out the door to go home, go to your next class or what haveyou, it all seeps right out of your brain. The homework (which ironically he rarely gave) is to make sure you remember the next time you walk in the door.

My problem with HW is that I think I have better things to do, but really, do I? Half an hour a day (I talk constantly about that extra time a day on my blog) could mean so much for your future, in terms of doing what you want/love and how much you're paid for it.

I don't think they're ugly, but I don't think the Nano should look like that with the "fatty" thing or whatever they're calling it. I'm definitely getting an iPod touch, though :)
