Whose nephew got tapped to use his elite Microsoft Paint skills to make this hideous logo? Cyan and Magenta, wow. Maybe they want to make sure it will display well on CGA monitors still in use.

I decided to take a stab at blogging about linux as a side project. Site is called : "Linux Ninjas - Silent, Deadly, Open Source Assassins".

I'd like to find someone to make me a header image (894x195) and a logo that features.. well ninjas with an open source/linux flair. Can't pay but can give credit. If interested let me know. :=) Thanks.

P.S. Ninjas > Chuck Norris

I put one of those funny greetings (tasteful) on our voicemail once and didn't tell my wife. She didn't quite find the humor in it that I did. lol.

I found that putting the time in replying to other people's blogs of like interest with intelligent responses that do not pimp your site work wonders. Its odd to think of building traffic by building relationships with other bloggers but it does work well.

Well, I honestly see how it's germane other than as a gimmick to increase sales with the gay community. Honestly, after reading the books any gay references between Big D. and that other dude just were not apparent in my opinion, if at all.

» What Is 9rules?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by cooper.

Shadowsun what answer are you wanting to hear? It doesn't really matter how anyone defines 9rules, its how you define it for yourself that matters.

I have to be honest with ya man, I'm getting very bored with rehashing the exodus. Forgive me if this is too harsh but.. some people left, it sucked, we got over it. As much as we all want to think we are a beautiful and special orchid, truth be told to the Internet we are all dandelions. One great blogger leaves, others will join.

9rules didn't crumble because they left. And the Internet forgets things faster than my six year old when I asked him what they did in Kindergarten.

Let's move on eh? Just my 2 cents.

» How Many Christians Believe in Reincarnation?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Mjoshua.

The idea of reincarnation is not compatible with the teachings of the Bible and as such Christianity. At least in the traditional sense of reincarnation that holds the believe that one if reborn as a child or some other living being upon death.

Christians believe in an eventual resurrection, but this goes along a different theme than that of reincarnation.

Something can be art and require absolutely no skill. In this case its more about the statement than skill. And in this case, and many others, there is no skill required.

It almost begs for a different label than art. Maybe something like "Materials Based Social Commentary"

Would it be possible to have the member name on member profile link back to their personal profile?

For instance, if I am on:
http://9rules.com/member/200

There doesn't seem to be a way for me to get to Joe's profile. I'd love to be able to click on Joe's name to go to his profile and or possibly see his avatar.

We had a compost heap growing up, my parents swore by it for the garden. Grass clippers made up most of it if I recall. If I ever get into gardening like I would like to, I will do it for sure.

» Oh Those Noble Bushes  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by LorriM.

People join the military for many reasons, for some its a chance for education, for others its a chance to serve their country, the list just goes on and on. The suggestion that the only way to support the war is through active duty I think is a dangerous road to tread upon.

I for one do not want to see the draft ever come back, I can't imagine the horror of being forced to serve. The other thing that I find interesting here is the assumption that she should have the exact same views as her Father.

Will you perchance be adding in the future a way to modify what are this link goes to? I personally find I would like to see this much more:

I'll summarize what I think dook was trying to say is a manner that can be understood by all:

"Disagree, debate, and try not to be an asshat."

I originally had an image here that seemed funny but I decided after some thought that it might be offensive to some Christians so I removed it.

To modify a Lee Haney quote,

[We] must lead by example. Don't use the cliché; do as I say and not as I do. We are our [dissenter's] first and most important role models.

Lee Haney the bodybuilder said that? Brawn and brain, who would have thunk it!

» Key West  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Cappuccino.

Well, one recommendation I have is to visit the Key West aquarium. I know it sounds goofy, but its right down by the Hilton and its an open air aquarium, meaning you look down into the pools where they have nurse sharks, and stingrays etc.

Pretty cool to see these open pools that you can walk right up to with 10+ foot sharks in them.

Do the Hemingway house tour, again, old geezer attraction but wickedly cool from a historical perspective.

Hit the key lime cheesecake factory for sure.

» Member exodus?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Griffith.

I think what is being lost in translation by those who are leaving is that by adding a minimal amount, and I do mean minimal, of additional interaction with the people visiting and using 9rules, their sites and entries will by default gain further exposure.

Even the best blogs take steps to further their exposure and readership, this is just one simple way in my humble opinion.

Good Visual CSS Viewer?

Can anyone recommend a good free visual CSS analysis tool? I have very limited CSS experience and would like to make my right sidebar on Brotherhood of the Bean look like my left sidebar.

For some reason, I seem to be CSS impaired. Any advice is appreciated. To see the css in question click this link:

» Repair Techs Snooping  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by Ozone42.

I have been in the network administration game for a long time, in truth when you are doing work there is nothing to prevent you from snooping other than your professional ethics. Its an unwritten rule that you just don't look.

However, if in the course of doing my job I ran across a suspect filename like child_anal_torture.jpg or some other sick ass thing, I would report what I say in the directory to my manager and express my concerns to the authorities.

The last thing I would want to do if I found myself in that situation would be to do something that might invalidate the evidence I stumbled upon.
