» How do you make your coffee?  ...  Last Reply: 9 months ago by Chavez_Chavez.

Just the percolator at work. But first I pour a packet of hot cocoa powder into my cup first, then coffee and lots of creamer. I need the caffeine but I have to get rid of the horrible taste. Yes, I admit that I totally annihilate the essence of coffee. If I have the chance, I prefer a cookies & cream cappuccino from the gas station. Never even been in a Starbucks even though I have a $5 gift card in my wallet that I'll never use.

I think what you're missing is that you need to run a registry file to add support for the dll to your shell. Just download the file in the linked thread and run the .reg file that's included. It just worked for me right now.

And as far as your Bridge problem, I found this post while searching.

Dear jensized, I used this word intentionally. I am aware that I have a peculiar reaction to Cesarean, but I cant change it... I do not want to go into too many details and explain how and why I feel that way.... because it hurts.

You used that word intentionally because YOU are aware of why. You never said anything of the sort in your original reply. I'm sure there would be other people giving your reply a raised eyebrow look if they read it without knowing the back story behind it. Not even a back story just a short "don't ask" since you knew you were saying it that way.

No one's putting down your experience or tragedy - just trying to figure out what you meant.

Jack O Lantern from 2006

This is our pumpkin carving from Halloween 2006. My wife usually picks the theme of it and she decided on the comedy & tragedy theatre masks. My son posed next to the pumpkin and it came out fairly eerie.

Whoa... Clint Black did a cover of this? Sounds strange with a country singer doing it. I prefer the original. Didn't realize I would have a chance to prefer a version of the Galaxy Song but hey, it's Friday.

Because as soon as I come in there's a surge of trouble tickets (2nd level pc support) waiting for us. Especially when the help desk comes over right after I put my lunch in the refrigerator and says there's an exec from New York who can't sign in. Being vague as it sounded, I went down and find that he has some weird tiny sub-laptop tinier than a tablet computer that we've never seen before. Yay.

It's always something like that.

But more deeply, I think it's more of a thing where I just didn't get everything I wanted to do done on Saturday and Sunday. Going to work delays those things more and, frankly, the commute drains me before I even get here.

» Is email dying?  ...  Last Reply: 7 months ago by Scrivs.

For example, to shoot the sender a note which says that you've received the email and things like that? I know those action may waste bandwidth and what-nots, but I feel that it's better to check and confirm than to be left in the dark, thinking that the recipient has received your email, when in fact, he hasn't.

You mean, like a delivery or read receipt? If someone is worried about emails not actually getting delivered, a delivery receipt can usually be set in the email client for each message they send.

Is there anyway to determine which Opera hits are from Wiis?

» I Have A Choice  ...  Last Reply: 11 months ago by Oli.

I'm no Windows expert and things COULD have changed but last time I checked, if you remove Explorer in windows you can bork up some MAJOR shit.

You can "uninstall" it but it's not totally removed from the system since it is still integrated into the OS. Uninstalling IE just removes user access to it, as in you cannot run it anymore. The IE code is still there for Windows/Explorer to run but there won't be any IE per say.

» I Have A Choice  ...  Last Reply: 11 months ago by Oli.

Geez, Opera. Microsoft has been there, done that.

but I don't think that anyone could debate that having IE packaged with Windows gives MS an [unfair?] advantage in the browser war.

I'd imagine if MS didn't have a browser with the Windows install, how would the average consumer be able to download Firefox at all? Sure MS could place a Firefox installation file on the machine as well, but that's asinine. Why would they promote a competitor? Wouldn't they have to promote all competing browsers as well?

We generally do flush everytime but when we're visiting her relatives in Kentucky, we only flush for #2 since they're running on well water and conservation is key up there.

In public restrooms though you should always flush.

ESPECIALLY URINALS. I hate that junk.

In one of our restrooms at work, they're trying out those new waterless urinals. It's weird.

Honestly I only store the Christmas stuff in the attic. There's no room to store anything and it's generally an unpleasant experience being up there.

» mouse in the bathroom  ...  Last Reply: 11 months ago by NoelKingsley.

There was a mouse in our old apartment years ago. I was at work but my wife was home. She was in the baby's room and saw it. It was a small one but still. She grab our son and ran to our room and closed the door. She called me and said that she told me everything that happened. Our cat chased it about the upstairs and caught it by the bedroom door. Some thuds later, she heard some crunching. She went over to the door and opened it slowly. She was greeted to our cat with no mouse in sight except for its tail hanging out of its mouth... until he slurped it in like spaghetti.

Our local school levy passed by one vote. 3652 to 3651. Sends a thrill right through ya, doesn't it?

Honestly, I'm glad it passed because if it didn't, well, our kids' schools wouldn't have funding. It's just that they keep making it a replacement levy with some additional tacked on as one issue. If they'd make it a renewal levy plus another levy for additional, I think they wouldn't have problems when the one bigger replacement levy actually does fail.

Our city is greatly populated by people of the retired persuasion so they're very tempted to say "Hey, I don't have any kids in school. Why should I pay these higher property taxes?" I'm not sure why they don't realize that good schools helps keep people living in the area which in turn helps to raise property values.

Note: My generalization of the elderly in my community is just that. I don't have proof of them being the ones wanting to bring down the levies. It may just be the single people instead but it's a theory.

» Is 'talk' out and 'chat' in?  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by a_romig.

Do you text more than you talk?

I don't have a cell phone so I don't text. If I had a cell phone, I still wouldn't text.

Do you email instead of call?

If it's something that needs attention soon, I will call. If it's something that needs attention sometime in the future, email is fine. I could call for that but email at least assures me that hopefully they have a written copy of the communication that they can reference later if they forget.

Do you chat with your fingers instead of your mouth?

If the person is not in the general vicinity, yes. I mean, I could call my wife at home and talk but it's a lot more convenient to us both to IM each other and have conversations that way. If I had a quick question for a co-worker, I'll IM them as well instead of walking over to their cube and bothering them.

Right now, I'm not talking to anybody since I have a very sore throat since Monday.

I only use the self-checkout lanes when it makes the most sense: when I have a few items and the lanes are packed with people with big grocery orders. It's not meant for an entire big grocery trip. And frankly I don't mind doing a little extra bagging. At times I help bag in the regular checkout lane when the cashier doesn't have a bagger on their lane.

» Boston Red Sox Are Dominant, Rockies Stand No Chance  ...  Last Reply: 1 year ago by a_romig.

I was hoping for a better turn around for the Rockies in Game 2 but it was a much closer score this time. We'll see how Boston does up in Colorado next (especially at a higher altitude). They've had the home field advantage for their recent games.

Mostly I think the Rockies' pitchers need to just throw in the strike zone. I'm seeing too many balls and walks. Even if the Sox do hit the ball, the Rockies have good fielders to handle it. I'd like to attribute the bumbling in Game 1 to the rain though.

Although last night, it looked like they were trying to seriously injure the Sox's batters. Ow.
