From the Clip It's inevitable: soon we will all be gamers posted by Scrivs:
As a child of one of the first generations to grow up with video games, I can still vividly recall my parents' exasperation when I became engrossed in this new and alien entertainment. “It's just dots of lights chasing other dots of light around a screen!”, my father would dismissively remark.
What I enjoyed about this article and the point that hits home is that games went from a geeks only realm to a place where anyone can enjoy them. With the proliferation of online play, the Wii and simple games that millions of people enjoy, games are starting to be the one common thread that we all share. Just the other day I had my family over and my brother and I were playing Pac-Man and Ikaruga, My dad played one game of Pac-Man whlie my mom played neither.
I then purchased Track & Field from XBLA and soon the whole family got involved due to its simplisitic nature. I don't mean involved like "let me try", but I mean "shit I know I can make that jump, I'm going again" type of trying. It was fun for everyone.
You can gather around and watch a movie or you can interact with each other on a game, but in the end we are all gamers in one form or another.

My Wii Sports usage has "infected" at least 5 people outside of our generation (40-50 somethings), and now they're obsessed. Most have already purchased Wiis.

Of course because of the Wii we all might be in rehab for sports related injuries and no longer gamers.

The Wii definitely helps drive this point home. I never thought I'd see the day that both my mom and girlfriend enjoy playing a video game, but the Wii made that possible.

The thing I like about the WII is there are some games I can beat my sons at!
