As any good foodie, I am addicted to the Food Network and anything affiliated with it, almost... Half the fun is watching how experts do it, what equipment they use, and of course, recipes... Here are "My 5"
My #1 fave right now is: Kitchen Nightmares UK version
Why? Because Gordon Ramsay kicks so much arse, is a 3 star Michelin chef, and a former professional athlete. I mean... come on. He's scary as he is funny. A man's man in the kitchen is hotter than hot.
#2 goes to: Iron Chef Japan
... does this need explanation? The secret ingredients. The cheese. The announcers and dubbing -- BRILLIANT. It makes the American version look like wilted processed cheese next to a yummy, bubbling brie. Give me Hiroyuki Sakai and Chen Kenichi any day!
#3 Chef at Home with Michael Smith
This lovely Canadian chef is like a chubbier Eddie Burns. My dad met him at a conference one year, and said he's absolutely the salt-of-the-earth. Also, he teaches you how to improvise in your kitchen.
#4 Everyday Italian with Giada DiLaurentis
She's pretty. She's bobble-headed. Her recipes are simple -- but delicious. I like watching her, tho envy how small she remains despite all that food around her. DAMN her Italian movie star genes!
#5 License to Grill
Rob Rainford is ridiculously friendly and every recipe I've tried of his has been a hit; my special favourite is his grilled stuffed portabella mushrooms and marinated lamb.

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations.
I like it because it's not just a food show or just a travel show.
He goes to places I will visit or have visited as well as ones I doubt I'll ever see; enlightening with culture AND cuisine. Plus I love his witty narratives. He's not your typical celebrity chef; I've actually been meaning to pick up some of his books.

I really like Good Eats and Everyday Italian. Essence of Emeril is also good--he's so funny and serious on that show sometimes it makes me giggle.

Kitchen Nightmares is a great show. It's the only reason that I really wish I had BBC America. I'm excited to see what the American version will be like, but I'm not too enthused (it is Fox after all).
I also like Good Eats pretty well.
In the food & travel category, I'm a big fan of both No Reservations (and Bourdain's old show(s?) as well) and Feasting on Asphalt.
That's most of what I really like, there are many others that I watch from time to time though.

Kitchen Nightmares the UK version and Hells Kitchen the US version. They also show Jamie Oliver here but I never liked him, no idea why(Although I like how he promotes healthy food in the schools). While For Ramsay in Kitchen Nightmares I like to see how he helps reorganize a restaurant. And Hells Kitchen is just very entertaining to watch, they just started showing the third season here in the Netherlands.

My two favorites are Nigella Bites and Barefoot Contessa. I like them both because they aren't traditional chefs (though I love those as well) so I think a lot of their food is elegant while still remaining down to earth, and is practical to make at home. And since Ina got her start as a caterer, most of her recipes are tried and true, especially the baked coodies.

I love Top Chef on Bravo. It's one of the few cooking shows that I make sure to watch every week.
I also like Everyday Italian and Emeril.

Hehehe, Take Home Chef is quite nice. How could I forget? Once in a while, I like to see Alton Brown talk about the science and history of food. Though, he can get quite annoying for some reason.
I can't wait to see the US version of Kitchen Nightmares this upcoming week (premiere is this Wednesday?), but I am worried b/c FOX is so damn obnoxious.

Of the weekly stuff --
License to Grill --
I just started catching this. I don't always find everything he makes up to be of my tasting, but I do get engaged in what he's doing.
After Hours --
Not really a cooking show, per se, but a nice flow of education and just food information
Hell's Kitchen --
Again, not for the cooking, but just the hilarity.
Generally, all the kitchen gadget, technology, renovation...shows --
I'm Italian, I love me some kitchens. I'll completely stop what I'm doing to catch one of these shows.
Of the cooking specials --
There was a tv special on a while back that featured these really old school, rough and tumble, hardcore bar-b-quers. Dudes who'll literally wake up at 4 am to start chopping wood and preparing the fire for dinner. (Dinner for their family that is, not a contest of any sort) Preparing a bbq dinner was literally an all day thing for these guys -- anything less was weak sauce.
That show kicked ass. I wish I could recall the name of it. I think it was a documentary type thing on PBS.

Just about anything on Food Network, but particularly Good Eats, Throwdown With Bobby Flay, and Iron Chef.
And Ultimate Recipe Showdown. I submitted a couple of recipes for the second season, so maybe you'll be seeing me on there in the future.

Anthony Bourdain!!! No Reservations and anything with him in it... he is like the renegade chef-blogger. He doesn't hold back. When I watch him it reminds me of the restaurant world and the relationships that come along with it. He has the food thing going on... but it is more about him then food. It does make a food show seem like an indiana jones or something!!!
As far as my vote for the food portion of the food shows goes... I like the grill / BBQ stuff with Bobby Flay and I also like a lot of Emeril's New Orleans cooking!!!
