No idea why I am bringing this up, but seeing the History community reminded me of it. In High School I had to take AP European History and took the exam at the end of the year (10th grade) and got a piss poor 2. That exam was nearly impossible for some reason. The next year I took AP US History and scored a 5 (the highest) and the text was light years easier.

That is all.

There's only 200 years of US history, so that makes it a lot easier :)

Good point.

I did the opposite, took US History in the beginning and got the 2. European went a lot better. It definitely had to do with the teacher. I hated history. Now I watch the History Channel all the time.

Yeah, somehow taking history as a class sucks all the interest out of it. I hated having to memorize dates and names. And really, that's not the most important thing you should be learning in history anyway, right? I wish I could have learned history in high school by watching documentaries and reading historical novels.

I know Tyme loves watching stuff that involves history, but I loved reading about it. Of course you never know what version you are reading, but if you are the last one standing you have the right to write how things went down.

I sort of agree about studying sucking life from history. I did Ancient History and that nearly put me to sleep - was more of a memory test than anything with list of battles / reigns in Greece / Rome.

I equally screwed up my AP American History test with a 2, but oddly enough, I got a 98 on the regents. Whatever.

I got a 4 on AP US as a junior. I planned to take Euro as a senior but there wasn't enough interest so they dropped the class and I didn't really feel like doing an independent study in addition to all my other classes. Sucks, because I would have loved it.

I got a 4 or 5 in all my AP courses.

Mike, the regents sucks monkey balls. I hated taking that test on top of regular course finals. My lowest regents score was Latin, coming in with a 92.

I wasn't in a single AP class.

hey guys im taking US AP this year
got any advice? the test is in May :P

I got a 5 too! Just got my scores yesterday :)

Raptrex: Charts help a lot. Your teacher will make you do a lot of them, and it just helps combine the information into a nice graphical format. You'll also need to write a lot of essays, so practice that too!

The test itself is pretty easy. The questions are rather basic. Just watch out for those essays.

The thing about AP US History is although it only covers 200 years of history, the content is quite DULL. I'd rather learn about beheadings and European conflicts than frilly politicians' arguments. US history is just really dull because it seems tame compared to the outrageous things they did in Europe.

I'm looking forward to AP European history next year.

Learn to enjoy the stories. US History isn't that exciting if you just memorize it.

The cast of characters is the best: Washington, Franklin, Chamberlain, Lee, Grant, Lincoln, then Teddy Roosevelt, etc..

And the events make it anything but dull: Gettysburg, the Trail of Tears, the Battle of New Orleans...

There are so many moments in US history where our whole society hung on the brink: If some mathematics professor from Maine hadn't decided to charge his regiment downhill at Gettysburg (because they were out of ammunition) then this might be 2 countries right now. If FDR hadn't shown up when he did, we might not be a capitalist society, or a world power.

Trust me, it's cool stuff!!!!

yeah... I took ap bio, and almost everyone got a 5, and we did almost no studying.... then we took ap calc which was a lot harder... they definitely seem to vary a lot between difficulty

Which Calc test did you take drakensberg? We took Calc AB and about 80% of my class got a 5 on it (myself included) but I've heard the BC was a bit harder.
