Did anyone go? Overall, what did you think about it?
I thought they handled the number of people well, I got the most out of the general sessions. The classes were a bit lacking and the ones that were good were lead by the former Macromedia employees. In 2004 Max had more hands-on training and was geared for just that, training. 2007 Max, to me, was about hype and direction. I heard AIR, everyday, all day along with its sisters Wireless, Mobile, and RIA.
Are the days for the xHtml CSS developers coming to an end?

Well you were at an Adobe conference :). I love the new stuff from Adobe, but xhtml/css are not going away anything soon. Now should they. Not everything is best done using RIAs

I don't think xhtml/css is going away at all -- it's just that more is going to be required of people that call themselves web developers. As the tools and platforms for creating RIA's evolve, the barrier to entry decreases. I think we're going to see more employers wanting candidates who have experience with not "just" xhtml/css, but have worked wtih Flex, WPF, or advanced Javascript. Let's face it: XHTML/CSS is extremely simple to learn.
Personally, I loved this year's MAX (from a non-attender's point of view). This past year I've really fallen in love with the Adobe brand. I wasn't so hot on the Macromedia/Adobe merger, but they've really proved themselves this year. They somehow combined the awesome community of Macromedia with the amazing tools of Adobe into this community-driven technology that's really starting to break barriers.
I know I sound like a fanboy, but hell -- maybe I am. I'm totally stoked for Thermo and Flex 3 -- they're totally going to change our profession.

Thermo look like a designer's dream app. It really is neat to see that we can now do what we only dreamed about.
I find myself with a wide skill set but having a hard time focusing. I know front-end to back-end coding and graphic design. I'm most productive at front-end and graphics, so I left MAX feeling a little overwhelmed.
Do I really want to learn AIR? Do I really want to design for mobile? Maybe its time to become a manager!
