I'm designing a logo for the Chi Alpha I am a part of. I need a clean, modern, sans-serif logo font. The gist of the logo is the initials "xa" in lowercase. The main thing I'm looking for is for the x to carry over to the top of the a (looks like one stroke). Any ideas? What fonts do you use regularly for other projects?

Frutiger. That's about as clean/modern/sans as you can get, at least out of my "frequently used" pile.

I just made this... with the pen tool. I still need a font if anyone has one.

Century Gothic is my favorite of the moment. I like it because it's "smooth".

@avuvee - You stole my answer. I was just about to say Century Gothic. lol
It's pretty much my favorite and most used font.

I'm not sure why but I like using Blue Highway a LOT.

I've always loved AvantGarde LT Medium Caps.

I have always liked Helvetica. I think in part because I like the sound of it's name.

@solepsis Go here and see which ones you like the best to fit what you want.

Not sure if you will like the font, it's Gill Sans Light. Your mock up doesn't keep the "a" clear enough for my liking. If you really want to go that rout, think about placing the letters between two bars top and bottom. In place of stretching over the "a" to the "x".
I can upload a 300dpi file for you if you like any of them.

Akzidenz Grotesk is my favourite sans-serif, it's over 100 years old and is great for those design projects that need a bit of a rustic feel without overdoing it.

Helvetica lover over here and I am still a sucker for Arial and probably always will be despite things being thrown at me for liking it ;) Tahoma I also like for a more informal font but the readability isn't so great sometimes on it.

@daydreamgfx: Nice typeface. I like that a lot. Might have to try track it down, although it's probably out of my budget!
