As i am still in "exploring" mode, i am trying to validate and the main reason behind it is that i can learn from these errors.

And why has IE not stepped to the plate to match Safari or Firefox and others? I often build sites that look great in all the "good" browsers but open IE 6 or 7 and lose my mind...

I validate... mainly because from my understanding of search spiders.. cleaner code can help improve rankings. also.. I have better luck with cross browser compatibility by validating. I cannot stand sites which are "made for" ie or "made for" another browser.. if you take the time to make it, it should be seen just as well in all and work in all browsers.

Ampersands will throw a warning not an error. Javascript errors or really bad HTML practices will throw an error. I use traditional though.

We say our sites are XHTML valid and for the most part, they are. FCK editor (client CMS sites) just has a blatant disregard for all that, so we don't really put too much importance on it anymore, just keep it neat and clean.
