So did you pre-order? Are you picking it up on opening day? 1 WEEK LEFT!!! Looking forward to this one, but no guarantee I'll be able to get any play time in next week while I'm working on the new site. If you get it make sure to keep us updated on what is going on.

I definitely plan on getting it the day it comes out. I'm pretty damn geeked about it, but I need play it in moderation so I can function at work.
When Halo 2 came out, I got it at midnight when it was released, and played it for 11 straight hours. Seeing as though I was in college, I could afford to miss a class or two for it. But that won't fly with Halo 3.

If it came out the second week of October it would've been perfect, but I guess it's my own fault for setting a silly deadline.

So today my cable was down and I was talking to the tech. He was in a good mood and I asked him why and his response was:
The game will be huge. If only I was good at it.

There was a guy on the 9rules notes asking advice, and really you just have to play. It's really not that hard to pick up and get decent at. One thing I've noticed a lot of new jacks doing in Halo is standing around. That's the quickest way to get killed.
So, actually, another piece of advice I can offer is to learn the maps as quickly as possible. That will help a lot getting around, and when you learn them, you learn where the weapons (that you're good at) spawn. When I start off on a map, I run straight to those weapons that I know how to use and leave the ones I suck at.

You are referring to multiplayer right Philly?

Yeah, definitely multiplayer. I guess I should have said that. I rarely play the campaign, I'm just not into it like that. I like getting into the action and playing online against others. But playing the campaign can get you used the controls and such, though, playing multliplayer is a whole new dynamic, and the one thing that will have the replay value of the game.

Been playing the game for couple hours now and I'm very pleased so far. I haven't played any ranked games yet because I want to get my bearings on the maps first.
There are a few new weapons but nothing to really get excited about. The new maps are really nice though. Fun to play and makes different game types really interesting.

You play any ranked games yet? How's the competition? Easy to get on some games?
I heard the servers were being pounded, which was to be expected.

I haven't gotten into ranked games yet because I wanted to get my game tight, but I think I'm ready now. For the social games (unranked) the competition has sucked, but that's to be expected. I'll update once I get going on some ranked games though.
The servers seemed to have smoothed out a little bit, and I imagine it will get better day by day.
