Dream Car

If money was no object, what would be your dream car? What about it intrigues you so much?

Man, I've got a bunch of them. Here we go:

* Audi RS4 — 4-door sedan so it's "practical" but with a 400+ horsepower, high-revving V8 that dominates the road.

* Aston Martin Vantage V8 — This is one of the Top 5 best looking cars in the world today IMO, the lines are just so taut and stealthy. The contrast-stitched leather options for the interior are pretty hot too.

* Ferrari 612 Scaglietti — The big boss Ferrari that isn't just about speed, but comfort and luxury too.

I want Boxster S and modified it with bumper and fender. My friend also did it and the outcome is terrific.

I want this one.

Let me sit in the backseat and be chauffeured around town. Plus that thing's got to have WiFi, so I can blog while I'm at it. Double Score.

Mike, you almost took my top two. :)

Aston Martin Vanquish - you know, V12. Like being a Bond girl without Bond and just going for the Bond car. Camouflage unnecessary.

Audi RS4 Avant - with a roof rack that can hold 4 snowboards. That's my mountain car. I like sedans but I have a thing for superfast AWD wagons in that ironic, Euro way.

Porsche Targa - I mentioned this in another thread but I think if I had a Porsche roadster it would have to be with a sunglass roof as long as it were available in one. It's kind of the "girly" Porsche. :)

Project Kahn Aston Martin DB9S aston, need i say more. mike and estarla know what up

BRABUS B63 S because everyone needs a 550hp 4 door merc to hit the town with. plus its been man handled by the BEST merc tuner in the world, so you know thats its gonna be worth every penny.

Gemballa GT2 650 EVO R Porsche 911 750hp porsche, i think i need to change my pants. i love this car beyond reason

The Audi is a really nice car. Practical but enjoyable. I own a standard A4 Avant, but secretly wished I'd spent the extra and got an RS4.

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage is certainly sexy, almost pornographic to steal the phrase.

But for me, it would be either the Ferrari 612 (for the same reasons as Mike) or the 430 for the shear thrill factor. Or the McLaren Mercedes SLR. See, now you've got me drooling over cars and it's only 8.45 in the morning.

Hard-top convertible - I haven't decided which one I like best yet.

@DavidBB: That's an easy one. Honda S2000. Fantastic 2l engine, Honda reliability, pretty good looks and great handling. The price isn't out of the world either (at least not in the UK).

A Tesla.

Corvette ZR-1. 650hp, lots of carbon fiber and 0-60 in under 3.5 seconds, making it faster than the Ferrari Enzo. It's not the Bugatti Veyron's 2.8s to 60 but I think the Veyron is fugly and can't handle as well as the ZR-1, which is only $100k and therefore actually attainable in a few years, hopefully.

Other than that the 997-gen 911 Porsche Turbo is a great value of speed and handling. 60 in 3.7 w/ manual, 3.4 with tiptronic and the AWD is very tasty.

Aston Martin's are nice but they are pretty slow imo.. 60 in 4.8 sec? kthxbai.

As for realistic cars, the new BMW M3. 400HP V8. All you need is a DINAN supercharger kit and SuperSprint race exhaust system and you'll be faster than the F360 and faster than the BMW M5.

Well now that it's almost a year after my initial response, maybe I can change my answer :)

The next BMW M3 looks pretty hot, but I'd have to drive it first to see if it's really worth that much more money than the current 335i coupe. I've heard reports that the torque out of the new M3 engine leaves much to be desired.

Alfa Romeo's 8C Competizione is straight up the best-looking car on the face of the earth. Pic, Pic

And even though it's not out yet, I'd really like to see the "little" Ferrari that they are supposedly working on (picture here). They dubbed the concept the Mille Chili concept and it's essentially a shrunk-down Enzo which is IMO one of the nicest looking Ferrari's out there right now apart from the fact that it's way too freaking massive and has a huge ass. This Ferrari concept keeps the best parts of the Enzo styling and gets rid of the ugly. I want one.

Paul - Totally agree about Aston Martin's lackluster engine. I love the way the Vantage looks but if I actually had the dough I could never spend that much money on a car that is in supercar $$$ range but not supercar engine power.

It has to be just one?

If I'm going just for a fun weekend car then a 1967 Shelby Cobra 427 Side Oiler -- or modernized replica with similar or better power/weight.

If I want a daily driver, I'd go with a BMW 840

I would really love to have the Ford Escape Hybrid. Unfortunately, I need a 4x4 where I live, and they're awful on gas, so having the Hybrid would be a nice compromise. Then again, if money were no object, maybe I'd spring for the Lexus RX 400h. :)

Mazda RX7. My love for that car is true...

Feel so lame.. 1994 Toyota Supra. Find one with low miles for maybe $30,000, drop another $30,000 into it and I'd be grinning from ear to ear. Not a huge fan of exotics/supercars as it just seems too easy to go fast.

Aston Martin V12 Vanquish. That's high on my list, but so many others are in the running too! :D
