How did you learn to draw?

For me it was with books and experimentation. and practice... of course ;)

I learned it in the streets.

Actually, I just always have been able to, no real training.

It was practice, practice and practice. Have taken no formal education in arts - I wish I did.

Drawing is something I realised I had a talent for quite young, but I haven't really done any for 3 or 4 years now. Regardless, I didn't "learn" so much as I "just did".

In college, except now that I'm not THERE now, I've slacked and can barely draw again.

I need to "brush up" on my skills.

I see what you did there.

Wha?

I tihnk he's trying to say he's jealous of your rapier-like wit.

Ok, sorry I'm a bit NOT here today ;)

I'm with jmathias and Rich — enjoyed it and had a talent since a young age. Seem to have it in common with Rich that I haven't been doing much of it for the past 2 years.

I was trained by a rabid pack of wolves that just happened by and took me into their care.

So, you are the Jungle Book boy? ;)

Autodidact, I learned all by myself, since I was young I was able to draw anything I see with anything in my hand: ink pen, chalk, chinese ink...

I think being able to draw is something you born with, while being creative is something different.

I can always draw, but I know I can never be an artist.

Just drew. Then books. Then school. Then art school. Then look and do.

Im in art school now, but before that i have always been drawing in some way. I was definitely born with it.

I'm an animator, but i've been drawing since forever. Just doodling and working things out.

Recently in the past two years, i'll pick something to study each week- usually something funny comes to mind like sloths, bears, owls, treemen- etc, and i'll just fill a sketchbook or two a week with it.

I think it's all about learning to teach yourself how to draw. Of course, life drawing is an excellent thing to be able to get into to nail technical drawing.
