Apple released new versions of their Macbook Pro line today. Is anyone impressed/unimpressed with this release? Seems to be a bit better than the Macbook release a couple of weeks ago especially considering they use the new Santa Rosa chipset. Here are the following configurations:
- $1999. 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo. 2GB RAM, 120GB HD, 15" LED. GeForce 8600M GT 128MB
- $2499. 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo. 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, 15" LED. GeForce 8600M GT 256MB
- $2799. 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo. 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, 17". GeForce 8600M GT 256MB
Loving the default 2GB of RAM.

Great upgrade, though it's still not a good enough deal to persuade me to buy the Pro when I can get almost the same setup for $600 less in the Macbook.

*hugs his MacBook*
However, I do have a friend with a 2nd Gen Dell XPS Laptop that has been hearing the call of the Mac. This may help. :)

I agree with ErinR. The upgrades do some good but I recently bought a 15' MBP and I'm still enjoying it and not thinking about ditching it for these.

I wasn't overly impressed. I bought a MBP about six months ago (the big 17") and while the new ones have a slight bump in processor I don't think it's enough to get me to run to the Apple store or anything.
I might mosey over to the Apple store just to see if the new displays are noticeably better. I'm still pretty impressed with the last version of the Pro line, I can't imagine that these new improvements will offer too much to the average user.

Seems like a nice upgrade to the line up, but not enough to get me to upgrade from my 1.83GHz MacBook Pro. Now if Apple were to come out with a miniature, cheaper version of the Mac Pro...

I think it would be a bit difficult to not impress people with upgrades.. after all, they are always better than downgrades! ;)
I think they are looking slick- a much better upgrade than the macbook upgrades! I have to agree with Erin, though- I'd rather drop less coin on a macbook and get (more or less) the same thing!

I think I'll take care of that RAM thing, myself.
*Looks for deals on a gig of RAM.*

Yeah, this makes me happy that I haven't gotten my girl her Macbook yet. This way, she can have a much better machine than mine.
