I'm just curious as to which display 9rulers would fight for and why.
The Apple Cinema Display 23", or the Dell 24".

The ACD is nice, but it can't beat the Dell's value. I'd like a 20" widescreen Dell (with component inputs) myself.

I wondered this exact thing a while back and decided that the Samsung 226bw was an even better value than the Dell.
I'm an Apple guy but the 23 inch screen just seemed to not be worth the money.

I think the core components of the apple an dell displays are identical. So go with the best price, or other side features you want.

Dell for sure. ;) Take it from someone who learned that for the price, there really is no reason to purchase Apple over Dell (lcd's). Look at the contrast ratio for each display.

Derek and all those who use Dell displays, how have you found the style aspect compared to the Apple displays? I'm a nut for a well designed product ;-)

My Dell widescreens are solid. I can't even justify owning a display that tilts back and forward and nothing else. I can adjust either one of my displays low to the table or raise them high to eye level. With the ACD's, I had to prop them up in order to get them at eye level. I love the fact that the displays have built-in card readers as well.

I just bought the Dell 22" widescreen as a secondary monitor. I have sworn by ViewSonic because of their great warranty, reasonable price, and history of reliability.
With my new job, I got a sweet two-monitor setup with Dell 20" widescreens. After a little playing around, I found that my secondary screen flipped sideways did wonders for code. Seeing 100+ lines of code at once is extremely useful.
I got the Dell because it is widescreen, over 20", under $300, has a rotating stand, and has a suitable warranty.
Your mileage may vary.

dell, dell, dell, dell, dell!
they are simply beautiful.
for a cheaper alternative, check out LG. I would recommend LG over apple!

Wow, Apple actually just slashed £130 off the UK price for the 20" display, still more expensive than the Dell's but a *lot* better, I am very tempted!

If I was buying, Dell. If work was buying, Apple.
Didn't know about the Samsung one... I'll check it out.
(Just to add to the wishlist for later...)

Apple's dropped the prices on all their monitors by about 200 bucks (probably so people can afford an 8-core MacPro+display AND their mortgage).
