Now that the iPhone 3G has been announced and we all know what it is capable of, what features do you think have to be present for iPhone 3 to be a success? The iPhone 2 software platform makes the iPhone a killer product already, but there are some phone features that users need and that is what will keep them from getting an iPhone in the first place.
From the iPhone 2 Features discussion we had last year there are a couple missing from the list so I will include them here because I still think it is needed.
- Quality instant messaging. Many were hoping for iChat on the iPhone, but it isn't present yet. Make it happen.
- MMS. Why this isn't present already is beyond me. Not sure if this is Apple's problem or AT&T's.
- Memory card slot. Because we can't lug around our laptops or desktops 24/7.
- Video recording. Again something that seems nothing more than a software update away.
Some or all of these might just be a software update away so could come before iPhone 3 is out which would be cool. Let me add another feature, but this one rests solely with AT&T: unlimited text messaging plan that is reasonable.

I would wager everything but the memory card slot will be done via the AppStore, in several varieties.
I've already seen some MMS apps, but haven't tried them. I've got Video recording, quality instant messaging (looking forward to PUSH enabled version of this,) on my iPhone 1.0

Yeah I'm thinking the same thing to, but seeing how the iPhone has been out for a year already it is surprising to not see it done yet.
