I've been keeping an eye on both apps for some time now, and since the discount period for OmniFocus is running out, and Things is also offering a discounted price on the new public beta, they both ring in at the same price.
From far away, the apps are fairly similar, they both focus on GTD task management. Has anyone got any experience with either app? Any pros/cons you can list off the top of your head?
I can say that OmniFocus does look and feel more mature, because it is. But Things looks to be nearly on par feature-wise at some point in the future. Does anyone feel like Things is absolutely worth the wait?

Don't forget iGTD
Really, I haven't seen any compelling reason to use omnifocus or things over iGTD.

Great post, I was thinking about this earlier today too.
Things looks like it has a more innovative user interface, where you can add things (haha, sorry 'bout the pun) at any time, wherever you want, and it just shows up in the bubble-type listing. OmniFocus looks like it has some more structure. They both have impeccable Apple-like UI design goodness so I don't know if you can go wrong. Omni has proven itself as a Mac software king for many years, and the folks behind Things are a little newer, so that's the only real difference I can see. Either one you choose will probably be fantastic.

And since you wanted a real answer and not babbling prose on both apps, I'd say go for Things. I think the interface looks slicker and has some interesting features (like the HUD "Thing" addition boxes) that make me want to check it out more than OmniFocus or iGTD.

OmniFocus also has the 'quick entry' functionality you mentioned. It's also already got integration with iCal/Mail which is a major plus for me. Things has it in the works, but OmniFocus already has it. I've got to admit. OmniFocus has gained a few points both for maturity, as well as being an Omni product.

I spent some serious time with OmniFocus just now, and purchased a license. The way it integrates with iCal has totally sold me. It's smart enough to add (to iCal) all the items from a parallel project, while keeping track and adding only one item at a time if they're sequential. For me, that's completely killer since I sync to my phone and (thanks to Leopard's handling of To Do's) will always have a copy for reference.
While Things has a prettier interface (at least I think so) -- the functionality of OmniFocus is quite nice and I'm really liking it. I'll be sure to revisit this note in a couple weeks after really getting some use out of OmniFocus.

Of all the GTD-like applications on OSX, I find Things to operate much cleaner, clearer and present a better listing of the information I need. The interface is just about as flawless as I can imagine, allowing me to get to the information I need quickly and efficiently. This is not to say OmniFocus or iGTD are bad applications, just that I seem to work better with Things compared to the others.
Just my $0.02.

I can definitely see the attraction to the interface of Things. I had a similar experience with my personal finance application decision a few months ago. I came across Cha-Ching, the interface was stunning, and the app *seemed* to work as it should. Of course I shopped around a bit, and the runner up at the time was iBank. It had more features than Cha-Ching, but the interface, in my opinion, was not very Mac-like and a bit confusing to use. I opted for Cha-Ching, even though it was quite early in development.
I started noticing some quirks, some math not working out properly, and then out of nowhere the developers seemed to halt work for a few months. They're back to work, but there are still some bugs that absolutely need to be worked out (such as transferring from one account to another) before it can be completely depended upon. I ended up backtracking and purchasing iBank for the features, and I've found it to be completely great.
That is not to say (at all) that Things will follow suit. From what I can see, CulturedCode is a very responsible company making very good software (with superb UI design). I'll definitely be keeping my eye on the app, especially for iCal integration.

I've been testing out Things, and if they get the iCal and Mail support in soon, I think it will be nearly perfect for me.
Although, I'm always wishing for more integration from iCal from all my apps, because it's my go-to for what has to happen today.
Granted, I haven't tried OmniFocus, even though I've downloaded it, but I love how Things lets me group my to-dos by project, by date, and by area. Having never used a GTD app for any amount of time before, or not knowing exactly how the GTD movement is supposed to work (dang, another book I need to read), Things is really intuitive to me. I'm hoping it becomes a huge part of my productivity this year.

That's one of the selling points of Things from what I can see; people love the fact that you don't have to work by the GTD "rules" -- Things let you figure out your own system that works for you. I definitely agree in that once Thigns obtains iCal integration, it will be much more attractive. I hope that's one of the highest priorities. I'll definitely be keeping my eye on the app, once it matures a bit more, it just might be worth the switch.

Using Things over here and so far working well. I was thinking of omni focus but Things looks better and also looks like it's going to fit better with what systems I already use. Now if they can make it work with Studiometry I would be a totally happy person.

I had the same dilemma. Things or omnifocus. I got omnifocus under the initial discount, but if I hadn't I'd now regret that decision.
For me, Things is it. I love using it. So happy I found it.
